Within the last week I noticed the "feathers" or "red books" above the quest NPC's showing status are displaying as white glowing balls instead; however, they show up correctly on the normal map and mini-maps. If I log out and back in then it's fine until I zone. Then the same issue occurs. This is also happening to a friend of mine, so I'm not sure what the deal is.

My apologies if I missed a previous thread about this, but I DID check.

Anyone having this issue?

This is also happening for me, a white light above the head of quest npc. Thought it was something my end, until I discovered this morning that it's happening for a guildie also, so checked here and found this post. If I log out and back in, then it's as it should be.

It happens with my little "pixie on a string" too. Not sure why.

TSR's... any ideas?

Are you using the Full assets or Streaming LaunchPads? I'll try to reproduce and get some recommendations out.

Everyone in my guild has this problem. None of us uses a streaming client. Some have XP and some Windows 7. Some use windowed and some use fullscreen. We're in different countries. We all have different video cards. It's only since the last update. Occasionally there's a book or feather, then you go off and do the quest, come back and it's just a light spot again, very difficult to find when there are a bunch of NPCs together. If you go away and come back again, it could well be displaying properly. It changes randomly without any relogging. When I twobox, often one is showing correctly and the other isn't. A while later they'll both be wrong or both be right or will have swopped which is right and wrong.

Way back when I'm the one that started one of these threads. However, I do NOT have the problem this time. Windows XP Home/SP3 with full launchpad. I do delete the cache and logincache-us directories each time before starting EverQuest2.exe manually. I am using an older NVidia 6800GT w/ 178.13 drivers. So, whatever it was that caused the problem for me before, is not happening this time. Must be something different going on.

Well, I'm pleased to see I'm not the one to have this issue since the last patch.

I have the same issue that described by the OP (white glowings balls). I can correct by deco, reco, but it can reappear at anytime.

Quite strange.

I'm using the full version of EQ2.

I've been having the same problem. I use the Full Assets Launcher.

It's usually the quest-completion book vanishing, leaving behind just a glow over the npc's head; but, sometimes the quest feather also does the same trick or, more rarely, the halo around it turns into a solid sphere, rather than the soft glow. Doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to when it'll happen. I've found that camping to the character select screen usually fixes it for me, though it's rather annoying having to do that.

It'll probably happen again tomorrow when I run my tradeskill dailies. I'll try to remember to get before and after screenshots to post.

****

Updated the drivers for my Geforce GT220 to the newest version (285.62) and thought I had the problem beat, but it eventually popped back up again. Anyway, here is a screenshot of the bugged display. Camping to the character select screen fixed it.

Oh, one final thing - I've also had a sporadic problem with snowglobes not displaying properly. I've suspected these two share a common cause. Again, camping to the character select screen fixes that problem, as well.

We have received reports on this and are investigating. I'd just need to add which patcher you are all using when experiencing this issue.

I'm using the Full Assets Launcher.

Looking more like a global issue and I have already pushed a report up on it.

That's good to hear. I hear a lot in guild chat from people who are having this issue. I have noticed a few things.

It seems pretty consistent that if the feathers/books are visible when you log in, they will poof after zoning a few times.

It seems to be a global issue that does not affect people at the same time. I have confirmed with people online that at any given point, some will have the problem and some will not. Anyone who camps out and comes back will probably see the feathers again for a while.

It's definitely present for people who are using the default UI.

Changing the graphics settings has no effect. I cycled though several levels last night to see if that might bring the feathers back. No luck.

The people I've checked with are using the Full-Assets version.

That's pretty much my description in my reporting. We'll get this figured out as soon as we can

Thanks for the good news! Hopefully they'll be able to pin this one down without too much trouble.

Saw this, last night:

Think this probably helps support it being a global problem. Otherwise I suspect they'd both be glitched.
