A bit more detail to assist with diagnosis..

1. I run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32)

2. This computer is connectted via cable, the others that work always (or sometimes) are linked via wifi.

3. I have run as Administrator

4. I have checked my firewall settings (all EQ2 things are exempt)

5. I have tried running without a firewall

6. I have restarted multiple times

7. I have disconnected the modem for 1 minute and turned off the comptuter

In all cases this comptuter now just cycles thru the 7 login servers twice and then fails to load with the message 'Could not connect to a login server, the servers may be busy; please try again in a few minutes'

Please help !

Do me a favor and test the problematic systems without the router. Bypass it altogether and plug them in, 1 by 1, to your modem and see if it gives you issues logging in. We'll narrow it down and identify the precise cause.

We also have a network test you can conduct on the affected systems to find out where any block may be occurring.

I've included our standard text instructions for that network test below.

I need you to bring up a run dialog box. You can do this by pressing and holding the Windows key on your keyboard and tapping the R key.

In the box that pops up I need you to type cmd and press Enter (If you're using Windows Vista/7 press ctrl-shift-enter).

This is going to bring up an old “DOS box” don’t worry it’s just text.

You’ll need to type in the following commands one at a time. Remember to put spaces between all the words, unless there’s a special character like / or . in front of the word. Then you’ll want to keep that symbol and the word together.

If you’re having a lot of trouble you can also just copy and paste the text out of this email and into the DOS box.

These commands can take a while to run so please wait for the blinking cursor to appear since you won’t see any output to your screen. For the pathping commands you might even want to go grab some coffee, or a sandwich between lines.

So, all set? Here’s the commands:

ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt

tracert "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

(for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

freeport.everquest2.com)

pathping "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

(for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

freeport.everquest2.com)

If you’re curious what you’re saving for us, try the commands again but without the >’s or the stuff after them. Go ahead, I’ll wait… Pretty confusing huh? Don’t worry I speak gibberish fluently and can translate it for you.

Ok now that you’re done with that, you’ll have a file on your hard drive called “eq2info.txt”. If you go into your hard drive you’ll find it right in the main folder. To get there, just do that Windows key and R trick from earlier, and type C: and press enter. The file will be in there. Just send that file into me, I’ll translate it and figure out what happened to your connection, then I’ll let you know. No worries it’ll be pretty painless, but we might need you to contact another company if it’s not something on your computer that’s doing this.

It seems (I think) my Comodo firewall was sandboxing eq and only allowing partial access, tho i had tried it before without firewall on and it still didnt work, but I just got logged in after tinkering with the settings some more , so atm everything is good short of finding a firewall that doesnt interfere with my addiction. Funsquad, hope you get yours straightened out, Good Luck

p.s. also it worked right after i ran the tracert and pathping tho I doubt that alone fixed it and i could not test modem without router as it is AT&t's all in one setup

Thank you for the response and help.

Ok I really need some assistance in getting this issue resolved.

I have fully uninstalled EQ2 and all Sony files, including Vanguard and station, all 12.1 GB and then reinstalled. Same issue this computer gets the message 'Could not connect to a login server, the servers may be busy; please try again in a few minutes'

Its been an extended period, apparently back to December 16th according to my old logs since I have been able to log in. Not a few minutes.

I have tried searching thru the forums, I have tried the one suggestion offered here, I have fully reinstalled.

Doesnt make sense, 2 other computers in this house are working. Something changed with the launch of the new patcher there are no other issues with this computer.

Would be really great to get some help....

In addition to the above I have now completed the port forwarding exercise to no avail (Set up static id/ go through gateway address to port forward the EQ2 ports 3016-3021, 7000, 7010, 9700-9703, etc)

I really have put a lot of time into trying to fix this issue - it would be good to get some TSR suggestions or feedback to questions previously posed.

Thank you

My thoughts exactly. I do apologize for my delays in responding as we're still getting back in to the swing of the things here in support and I've been finishing up my other work duties. I'll work on speeding up responses here now that we've got through our holiday rush.

Disable the VPN interface and stick to your physical connection through the standard ethernet controller
