my conjuror used to be my main. (since eq2 started) For the past year though, i have been playing a necro & now that im trying my conj again, i am completely lost. im so used to tainted heals for my pet that i cant play a conj anymore.

can anyone please help me refresh my memory as to how to play a conj again? i miss playing him, but i die so much now that its just not fun anymore. i want to make my conj a main again but i desperately need some help.

i dont care about aa's as there are alot of references out there already. i tried a white ^^^ heroic in mystic lake isle of mara?) and i got owned in about 30 secs. i have all mastercrafted gear and my tank pet dies so fast.

is it because of not having enough aa's (only 26) or is it because i have forgotten how to play a conj?

thanks

26 AA's trying to take down a White ^^^ heroic at level 50 something isn't enough.

To kill white con triple ups, you really need all expert spells (mastered pet heal, master pet a must, master pet defensive stance will help as well) AA's into increasing pet defense, damage, and your pet heal reuse time.

You're going up against a group mob the same level as you, if you can defeat these, then consider yourself a well geared, well played player. Timing is important with your stuns and stoneskins. What you are trying is doable, but its tough.

Maybe try starting out killing green con ^^^, then work you way up to blue ones, and then eventually white.

Don't get down about conjuror's because you're having difficulties killing a mob the same level as you, that is meant for a group of 3 or more to be killing

The more AA's you have at a lower level, the more uber you will be (specially if you use/pick them wisely)

i appreciate that feedback. but with my necro its so easy to take down these mobs in about 60 to 90 secs. (even yellow ^^^ with crappy armor and adept spells & expert tank spell)

with my conj, i have expert or master spells and i didnt even last 30 secs and thats what concerns me. am i playing my conj wrong or is that the way it is now? i used to be able to do well but its been so long that i have completely forgotten how to play him and i miss that. im still practicing (as we speak) to get used to him again and i am determined to get used to him again.

i was hoping that its because of the expansion, but by your response, it doesnt seem to be. any other advice would be appreciated.

thank you

I betrayed to necro to pickup all evil quests (and houses), but I can't wait to betray back. Necro is ok, but I am much more comfortable on my conj.

I don't think I am the best conj out there, but my suggestion would be to clear your hotbars, sort your spellbook by level then drag them one by one back into appropriate places.

The casting order is the key and while I don't fully understand how many of the spells interact with each other, even an average understanding can get you through some pretty tough fights.

I'm a bit lazy and (shock horror) maunly use my tank pet in defensive stance, while means I have longer fights, but less concern about the pet dying fast. And I can harvest during the fight.

OR you can use the mage pet and lock the mob down, and kite it, which is ok, but a bit much work IMO.

I don't think the scout pet gets much use anymore.

You do get some very nice spells at later levels too, so things get easier in later levels. But for now just get your hotbars sorted, reread all your spells, get a casting order that you're happy with. Basically I've read that you use the big nuke every second spell, but that's really only needed in tough fights. I usually just stoneskin my pet, can the couple of buffs on it send him in and then start casting as fast as I can on the mob, watching the hate meter to know when to cast my ohshit spell. I'm not in game so the names of the spells escape me.

Oh and some ares of the game I get eaten alive, even though I'd have thought I'd be able to solo (slowly) e.g. Befallen, I hate those scaling dungeons.

26 AA may as well be zero tbh. By level 50 you should be rocking 150 or more AA. You're more than half way to 90, you should be more than half way to 320, or at least CLOSE. No, SOE doesn't do a very good job of explaining just how important AA's are to a player.

Solo'ing white triples is NOT something that you did at L50 in the original game. It simply wasn't possible. With only 26 AA, you're not much more powerful than we were back when that content was endgame. Gear helps, but it helps a pet class a lot less since your pet doesn't get a whole lot of benefit from your gear at that level.

If you want to solo triples at that level as a Conj, you need a TON of AA's *and* some really good gear *and* upgraded spells *and* be willing to die learning how to do it.

Thanks to some imbalanced masters my tankpet took less damage than some lvl 50 tanks I knew. We used it as offtank in the king Zalak fight and thanks to Minions Intervention (which had a much shorter recast back than) even tanked one one the prismatic drakotas that was one shotting our tanks. But holding aggro was a pain. Healing/using Minions Intervention alone was enough to get aggro.

But all that was pre LU (GU) 13 and much has changed since than. If you want to kill heroics now, best bet is to get to lvl 55, there you get winds of Velious, an unbreakable snare. With that you can pretty much kill anything that can be snared and can't kill you from a distance. But you have to learn to survive the few seconds it takes Winds of Velious to be up again after it has run out. You can either tank mobs in this time with your pet or root it or slow it with Icestorm or the slow if the root breaks.

Later with full AA and good gear you can just burn a lot of mobs bevor your protection spells run out. Or with the right AAs and enough pot/cb tankpet can even tank blue x4 epics and maybe even more.

Stun with Petrify. Root. Stun with Earthquake if it breaks gets close. Typically that's enough to get you past the gap in WoV.

In any event, regardless of whether you "can" solo heroics at that level, it's not really very efficient if you're struggling with it. Best to pull bunches of things you can kill quickly.
