I recently reinstalled the game on my laptop after a few months of not playing, I decided to get back into playing the game again. However, I found that as soon as I entered the game, I would have graphical streaks from objects racing across the screen, as in a rock formation projected far beyond what it should. I also found that the screen started flashing between black spots and the original game background. I have had another desktop computer with similar specs but with a Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 graphics card, with otherwise similar enough CPU output I believe, and the game ran with absolutely no difficulties with same RAM allowance, which I found slightly odd. It crashed once and gave me a statement saying something about DirectX, which I updated recently along with my video driver, which didn't solve any problem. Potentially this is a streaming client issue?

Obviously, these errors make it impossible for me to continue with my subscription, which disappoints me, as I love this game and would gladly continue to make a longstanding subscription to keep playing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know this laptop sucks a bit, it is a bit older, but it shouldn't have a problem handling this game, as it ran WoW (I know...don't hate) and Starcraft 2 well enough, and both nowadays (at least SC2 is) a more intensive game comparatively.

Edit: Directx updated, graphics drivers updated, fresh game installation, still same problem, however, it seems I can play the game for longer than before (about a minute) before issues occur. Still massive screen tearing without reason

Edit: triple buffering...shading...idk(or w/e it is) and vsync enabled, no change....tearing still occurs.

I do recommend downloading the latest driver set available from Nvidia.com directly

I would also recommend updating your DirectX just in case with the instructions below.

Please download and run the file linked in the article below. This is a self-extracting executable file that will prompt you to select a folder for extraction. Create a folder on your desktop and direct it to that folder. Once complete, open that folder and run the DXSETUP file to start the actual update itself.

[DX9] June 2010 - http://www.microsoft.com/download/e...ls.aspx?id=8109

Thanks for gettting back, however I already did update both my graphics driver and my directx files yesterday.

I just uninstalled my graphics driver then reinstalled from the files located at nvidia.com, but same issue. I check the date/version that my laptop says I have installed and the driver is older than the one that I downloaded from the website. Specifically a month older but it's version 6.14.11.7948 compared to up to date 179.48, to which I wonder "what the hell?!..."

Certainly a new laptop may be in order, but I really want that as a last option

Tried another driver, an older one, even after the new update. Same issue. Directx is updated, this is a bit of a BS problem. I am having screen tearing and crashes soon after starting the game. I can get to the character screen no problem, but once I log in, I hit hell.

Reinstalling using the total assets installation, will see if it solves the problem

Edit: solved absolutely nothing technically. Any help whatsoever? This computer should be able to handle the game, it must be a software issue. Any ideas and moderator imput? Would be greatly appreciated.

We have a few reported issues with that video card since they ended support for it in 2009 (Nvidia). I'll try to update you as I get more info from our QA teams.

On my research I found the same thing, this card has had many many problems, I'm just trying to find a way that this can be made to work. I have tried nearly any driver I can find, nothing can run the game as it should. The last one I found amazingly runs well enough at the start, but then crashes after a few minutes of play very little tearing at all thankfully, we have progress!!). I look forward to what they say, thank you very much.

If time allows I do highly recommend using our Full Asset patcher over any other method.

Does your audio device have driver updates?

A large problem is getting the audio drivers to even work in the beginning, they work supposedly, but the audio does not work. So far mine is the only one I managed to get to perform correctly.

And I already did use the full assets installation, it improved somewhat, but still the graphical tearing and eventual crashing.
