View Full Version : Time to remove the "Lore" tag on Personal Harvesting Depots?

Okay, let's be honest. Most of us who tradeskill have multiples of these things in several of our houses, and we've all got portals to those houses from the one house where we have our crafting stations. We've got a depot for rares, a depot for holiday mats, and a depot for regular raws.

At this point, all the lore tag is doing is forcing us to zone in and out of our houses to go get what we need. It's not making us craft somewhere else, or socialise in a common crafting place, or whatever else excuse might be brought up.

Would it really be game-breaking to allow us to have more than one of these in the same place? If I'm missing something here, let me know. But I personally don't see the sense in keeping a "Lore" tag on these; it just seems like an artificial roadblock at this point.

Aside from the guild amenity, I don't know what else might be getting in the way of that. It's possible there's some technical limit. There are around 400(?) items that can go in a depot. It could break something.

Whatever the limitation is, I don't feel so inconvenienced. Food goes in one depot. Rares are in another. Transmutes are in number 3 and General use for the last one. Holiday stuff is spread around a little. I can't say that I find myself hopping around much. If I do, it's still worth more than trying to keep up a harvest box in my hall.

And what I'm asking is that the lore tag is removed, so I can keep all my depots in one place; the one for rares, the one for raws, etc. So they're all nice and organised, and in the same house. That's all.

I still believe the biggest one would be the guild harvest depot, which essentially loses its value and probably upsets a few people who have sunk a lot of money and status into it.

This is how mine are set up.

Level 1-9 (Raws and Rares)

Level 10-19 (Raws and Rares)

Level 20-29 (Raws and Rares)

Level 30-39 (Raws and Rares)

Level 40-49 (Raws and Rares)

Level 50-59 (Raws and Rares)

Level 60-69 (Raws and Rares)

Level 70-79 (Raws and Rares)

Level 80-89 (Raws and Rares)

Holiday Items

Seems to work pretty good considering each of them are within the prestige houses, so I pay no rent.

IMO there is no reason good enough for these to be limited to 1 per person. How would it take away from the GH depot? I don't know many people wanting to spend THAT much brellium ..multiple times...for a personal depot.

And this would benefit smaller guilds that currently can't afford a hall.

Since so many folks are getting around the current limitations by hook or crook it would seem that any argument for keeping the lore tag is now moot. Even if someone is in a guild with all the amenities they still need a place to stash thier personal rares and holiday mats so I cannot see how this would seriously affect guild halls. It would be a great convience to many people and hurt no one. So I vote in favor of the OPs suggestion.

There are houses that have higher rents. If your guild has 3 people in it, you should be able to afford a t1 guild hall plus a few amenities.

While I don't like the idea of a player house having better storage than a guild hall amenity, I think there is another reason for personal harvest depots being limited to 1 per house. There is a very good chance that a harvest depot inflates the amount of data stored for each house. Effectively your single item acts like 201 furniture items (2 data fields for each harvest, since it tracks item + quantity, plus the actual item itself). So if you were allowed to have multiple working personal harvest depots and you decided to place 10 in a house, you've effectively added 2010 items plus any other futniture you might have. That should cause some significant load issues not to mention a huge database inflation.

Limiting this kind of inflation to one per house is a decent control. Your only adding another 200 data items to a single house. Each house loads seperately so the load issue is mittigated. Also there are only so many houses you can buy, so it limits the overall data inflation too.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is this request may not be as reasonable as you think it is.

I am in a guild with the guild hall depot. It mostly contains common materials with a few other items that people have put in there.

A lot of people in the guild have their own personal depots in their homes. Holiday materials, rares, dusts, transmuting products, and similar materials go in those. The personal depot does not take away from the guild hall any more than crafting stations in the home versus in the guild hall.

The two do not compete with each other. They simply help keep the guild hall depot left to its purpose, in our case for common crafting materials.

With the ability to own multiple houses, one character can have multiple personal depots in multiple houses.

The only reasons I see to stand in the way of removing the lore tag have to do with can it actually work....that is, if you have more than one depot in the house, can the database handle it properly? I seem to recall a dev stating that there were logistical reasons why you can't have more than one in a house.

If it could be done, I would love for it to happen.

It has been mentioned before that the Personal Harvesting Depot actually gets tied to the HOUSE data, not your character data. Hence they can't have more than one in a house, at least not unless you're happy with them all showing the same 100 stacks of items. Changing this would require recoding, this involves all sorts of messy - for example what happens when character "Tony" places a depot into the house of "Keith" then transfers server or deletes the toon? Since the Depot is currently tied to the house, it doesn't matter what happens to the toon who places the depot, this also mirrors how Guild Hall depot's are stored in the Guild Hall data (pretty much the same as House data).

This is it. I'm sure it's even in in this forum somewhere, with a red name next to it.
