Come check out the all-new changes to Dungeon Finder!

As of last Wednesday, we announced two new features for the Dungeon Finder system. This should help game play by giving more options for available dungeons and more incentive to use it. So go out there and get adventuring!

Contested Dungeons

We've added Contested Dungeons to Dungeon Finder! This includes Contested Dungeons from levels 20 to 89 (level 90 Contested Dungeons are not being added to Dungeon Finder at this time because of itemization concerns). You should see a lot more dungeons available to you now at various levels of play.

Rewards

We have added a daily quest that pays out after you play with a Dungeon Finder group for 20 minutes or more. The Mystery Crates offered as rewards are the same type of crated offered as rewards in the Dungeon Maker Marketplace category, so the rewards are really awesome!

We hope that you enjoy using the new features to Dungeon Finder. We are constantly improving our game to make it better and more enjoyable for you, the player. And with more people playing EverQuest II, it's a great time to use Dungeon Finder!

Indeed, I heard about this inquisitor that got a very useful bundle of nice shiny new arrows for his efforts.

And yet, people will use channels over dungeon finder as you will get a decent group setup, AND you're far less likely to get stuck withh idiots who cannot play their class.

Yeah so, had a grp of guildies we joined and it separated us into diff grps cause one of us supposedly didn't meet requirements we were all 90 and yeah ok some of us had gear not same as rest and hence CC and CM was lower than some but you'd think the DF woulda at least sent us all to one we could DO together

That's an awesome update to the dungeon finder system. But what exactly is a "contested" dungeon? :O

KD, Karnors, The Hole, Wailing Caves, Fallen Gate dungeons like those. Dungeons that you have to compete with other groups for kills.

He earned them as a reward for completing an in-game task so if he wanted to SLR them he should be able to do so. I'm not sure whaat your point is, either you are trolling me or I completely missed something.

I am simply informing people that may have missed his post that the rewards are not necessarily as AWESOME as they are claimed to be here, in fact they actually put slap you in the face zonk prizes in there, but it was not intentional it was just an idea that was half baked instead of being properly planned and executed. Cross-Server as it should have been to start with or just don't do it at all. AB and Freeport *might* see a little action in there, but it is still a pathetic, paltry amount nothing like they wanted and nothing like the dev time that was wasted on yet another feature that they will leave in an broken, abandoned state because of a general lack on interest in the next 6 months. This time could have went to working on mechanics that have been broken since Before and after the release of DoV

And yes, they can and will "steal" your nameds. That is the whole point of contested stuff, be faster than someone else

It'd be nice if the items from the crate reward used a "smart loot" system. Even if it might not be an upgrade, it should at least be something usable for your class.

These items are Heirloom, so you can't trade them to other players, and they also can't be transmuted.

So far I've yet to get an item usable for my class, much less an upgrade. So this reward for 99% of the time is useless. Not mention they're legendary or fabled. So for all you Free/Silver players, bust out your wallet and buy an unlocker if you want to equip any of these.

Contested dungeons? Who wants to join a group just to compete against other groups in a zone? How about making these contested dungeons into a personal instance for the groups that venture there using the Dungeon Finder?

My inq received str/sta/agi charm reward from jeweled crate I bought from DM category with marks.

Awesome heirloom reward that can't be transmuted so I wasted 50 marks on. I assume the same will happen if I ever actually get a group with DF.

I have good experiences with it, about 1 out of 10 groups. And thats at any level range with any of my toons.

I've ended up tanking groups with my fury, also doing the majority of the DPS and heals as well. Shoulda been by myself in those cases

It seems a lot of the biggest problems in DF / PuGs are finding a capable tank. And most the time it's just plain hard finding ANY tank.

I wish I could get a DF group to see all the laughably "awesome" loot. But, no one is ever in queue for the contraption. I wonder if this means my server doesn't care for DF. I dunno? /sigh

Most sucessful group I ever got, and the only one that finished the dungeon was me on a 90 Conjy alt, a 88 Mystic and a husband/wife 90 Monk/Troub duo. The four of us finished VD Conservatory with no issues. The acheivement of that I leave to others to judge

Kallous wrote:

Any chance of dungeon finder ever going cross-server??

That and setting groups up more accuratly is all this feature needs to gain momentum. Yeah, it's a failed feature but it could have been easily avoided if devs actually played the game.

The Dungeon Finder should give out tokens so players save them and pick out what they want later.

If dev want to make Dungeon finder work, they need to counter various group competency with more options available for group leader to adjust once groups are form, for example, option for group leader to pick level of the mobs within certain range (using standard heroic diffculty as barometer and let group leader go up or down in diffculties) , and possibly length of the dungeon (divide dungeon up into several big sections base on mini boss), with reward base on those settings, members then get to vote on those settings with majority rule.

I like the idea of adjusting diffiuclty and having it lower/raise the rewards/drops based on the challenge idea. That would fix alot. Still need the cross server bit though.
