In the wake of another Freeport crash in a single day, this is what I said: "Why not offer Freeps" (meaning US former EQ2xers) "a free server change, starting with highest seniority, and working down until the loads are balanced?" In other words, let them trickle away from the Freeport server until it's no longer overloaded. I don't care whether I make the cut or not.

That's what I said. That's what started this whole mess. And now it's being dressed up like I said something rude or hurtful. I feel that somebody didn't get past the fourth word before deleting it and posting their admonishment that "use of the word freep will be deleted as trolling". I politely explained that I knew nothing of any such negative connotation... that I vaguely remember the friend who introduced me to EQ2 telling me they were sometimes called 'Freeps' for short.

After about 40 or so comments on said admonishment post, expressing the same puzzlement or outrage at such political correctness, I tongue-in-cheekly said "Power to the Freeple! Occupy Freeport *snicker*". See, the snicker was intended to reinforce the tone that it was all in good fun. I'm honestly not sure if that was the final straw, or if that's just how long it took them to boot me from the page and throw me under the bus.

I'm not a troublemaker and I was not trying to incite anyone. That deed had already been done before I made that final remark and it was neither my doing nor my problem. I feel I've been a good citizen and I'm NOT happy at this time.

Freep was also used to refer to evil toons on PvP servers. Usually in a derogatory manner. By Qs.

So I've discovered. But consensus seems to imply that it's a very antiquated use. I had no clue and it obviously wasn't my intent. Most people replying to that thread had no clue. They're like "and what else are we supposed to call people from Freeport". Unfortunately, they've never seen the post in it's original context and in my absence, they're being told that the offender (myself) used it in a derogotory context. I certainly don't think I deserved to get deleted & blocked over it.
