Quest Recipes not deleting ? There has been a reason for quest recipes to delete after use. Is this the shape of things to come?

As it is the recipe book list is a cumbersome mess of capital and lower case letters , tons of silly names, individual stuff, event recipe and faction books with ambiguous names, and horrid filtering system.

The UI and filtering system has been complained about since inception to no avail and now we want to add countless more useless recipes? Bad enough the apprentice recipes are added individually.

Please rethink this.

I suspect this is going to have a love/hate response. My reaction to seeing it in the patch notes was 'Oh, good!' I hate having to find the recipe book in my inventory every time, especially for a quest I know I'll get the same recipe for in a few days (they seem to be on a fairly short cycle). Of course, I had the same reaction when factioning in Kunark - I really wished I didn't have to rescribe the dang book Every Single Time!

/eta I'm assuming this really is specific to the daily quests, since I agree that it would be irksome with one-time-only recipes. and I heartily agree on the need for better filtering!

This was added in the patch notes and I for one support it. Don't ask them to have it auto-delete with quest completion, ask them to provided proper filtering and sorting of the recipe book.

Recipe books seem to have a mind of their own. Doing the far seas tradeskill quests on my baby wood worker is migraine inducing. Scribe the recipe and then can't find it till I relog. Select the workstation and look... not there. Searching just by brining up the recipe book... not there. Really, really annoying. Doing this on rush orders too for all my toons. Don't get it.

Slow comp and 8000 recipes makes for longer load times but still would rather not have to rescribe the recipes every time.

I kinda like it. "Learning" how to make the knife I just made 2 days ago is dumb.

That said, I want to be able to sort my book by slot. I make adornments. I make jewelry. I have had weapon and armor smiths. I don't like having to go over to the broker or a third party website just to see what adornments I can use for a specific slot because I can't remember them all when I'm on an alt that doesn't use the same set up as my main.

grr.

I agree with the complaints about the poor state of the recipe list (I mean, teach these *nix nerds how to do a real alpha sort), but I also like having recipes stay in the book when I know I'm just going to need them again.

Just like predicted, the apprentice now gives me a recipe book and I have to delete it! I have the recipe and it will continue todo this everytime!

PLEASE: revert back to way it was, getting recipe, craft and it disappears from the recipe book. Otherwise I have to delete the recipe everythime I get it! I can CONFIRM THIS ON TEST!

Is it possible for the apprentices to have an option to ask for the recipe book(s) if we need it and not give us the book every time?

It's like 7 recipes, all named "Sturdy x". I don't see a problem. What would make more sense is if it were one recipe book instead of 7.

So at 90, instead of typing in "mallet" and immediately getting the recipe the quest wants, she'll type in "mallet" and be presented with 8 different types of mallets. Awkward and cumbersome..

I'd prefer for the recipe to disappear after finishing the quest, BUT for a new function to be added, which would auto-scribe the recipe when I pick up the quest. Wishful thinking maybe, but it would be nice.

I liked how it was first put in. I opened up a new hotbar and put the books on there, that way once the new daily came around I'd just click on the book learn the recipe/create it and done.

Once this goes live I'll have to delete the book, not a big deal probably just annoying. I can see it becoming cumbersome once you have to do it for each crafter (assuming people have more than one) on a daily basis.

i personally would like the dailies to stay in the book

so i can create a filter that would remember the recipes

and like the coldain recipes all in 1 book

----

additionally for simple quick fix which should not require too much programming

could be to create another filter section for 'artisan' recipes vs actual tradeclass

this would create a very decent (not completely accurate) seperation of quest recipes vs usable item

like the shawl recipes and PotP recipes would not filter correctly

If you level a new crafter, doing TS Apprentice quests as you level, by the time you reach max level you will get 9 recipes searching "mallet"... 8 of them obsolete and unusable because you wont even be offered the quest to use them. As with most things now it will be one way, or the other, and not much we can do about it. Perma scribe or temp scribe, neither are good solutions for everyone, but.. we will get one or the other. Flexibility doesn't seem to be a hallmark of the current management.

And I wasnt talking as if 32 useless and undoable recipes would "break the game". I meant instead 6 plus years of adding them to our books and continuing to add them.

Unfortunately, it seems half of us want it one way, and half of us want it the other.

Perhaps a middle ground would be for them not to be deleted, but add another Hail option to the TS apprentice, "I'm done with you for now", that deletes all the TS App recipes from your recipe list? This would address the issue of permanent recipe book clutter.

As to the complaint of now having to destroy the book each day, can't you just throw it in the bank and forget about it? They're lore, you can't be given a second one. (Or at least, you couldn't on live, my Test client is buggered up at the moment, so I can't check test since the change).

I don't understand why they are even giving out the book if the recipe is already scribed. When doing the Frostfell crafting instance, if you already have scribed the book, you just get a message that you can't receive the book because you already have the recipes. No need to worry about the book at all...

Maybe if all 27 recipes were in one book instead of individually listed in the book section, it wouldn't be so bad.

I must admit I hate having to rescribe everytime and as level 90 crafter I only need worry about 3 more things added to my book list, but a new crafter will end up with 27 more things in their list.

I hope they stay perma-scribe with logic so that you don't get the recipes twice. Maybe a book when you pick up the apprentice and their clothing dummy with a hail option for another book should you lose that before scribing.

I think the better solution would be for them to find a way to have most of these quest recipes only show up when said quest is active. The obvious exceptions would be the prayer shawl and earring. I don't know if it's possible, but something needs to be done to improve this whole situation.

For my part, I love the change. With 18 level 90 crafters running daylies, it's a real pain to write once more the recipe every day. At least, my 9 test crafters have been able to hotkey the recipes and just hit the hotkey to start crafting without rumaging through bags and then through recipe list.

Note for above posters: the unscribable book is removed from inventory on quest completion.

But I agree with the above posters too: we should have the possibility to delete recipes and a way better way of filtering the recipes. At least a way to enter part of recipe name to find them more easily.

On the part of apprentice quest recipes, having them all in a single book per tier would cut down the cluttering a little bit. But overall, I love this change.
