Why does Station Launcher show that I'm using a trial version of Everquest 2? I've never signed up for the trial unless that's how everyone started back in 2004. Currently, I have an all access pass and have never been F2P. The game seems to start up normally and everything works normally in-game for all 10 of my characters, but I'm not sure where this "trial version" label is coming from. When I installed the launcher, I downloaded the Everquest 2 full version patch (not streaming). I really don't even know what a "trial version" is.

Station Launcher is obsolete and is not supported. What you are seeing is final evidence that it is now broken for you.

The same thing happened to me. I used SL as long as I could, but this was the point where I stopped using it for EQ2.

The launcher that I just installed with the expansion a couple weeks ago is now obsolete? As in that small blue box that looks like a messenger box that lists the SOE games on it? When I click Everquest 2 on that (it has "subscribe" on the bottom right corner), it prompts me for my station login and password and then in the box where I am to start Everquest 2, it says "Everquest 2" with "Trial Version" underneath. At this point, I'm still in the SOE launcher and not yet in any Everquest 2 launchers.

When I do go into Everquest 2 (supposed Trial Version), it is a big colorful box with a big "Play" button on the bottom right, and then goes into the game normally when clicking play.

I've never seen any of these screens/launchers before the expansion update, so I'm not sure why they're already outdated.

Is there a picture somewhere of whatever it is we are supposed to have to start Everquest 2 as well as the other SOE games? Previous to the expansion, my EQ2 Maps would open up a EQ2 launch screen that looks different from what I'm using now, and then would launch the game directly from there. After I installed the expansion, it started using all this other stuff I've never seen before, and I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be using and how I would know if I'm using the correct launcher.

Well I did the drastic thing and uninstalled both EQ2 and EQ (but saving my custom files) and re-downloaded and re-installed everything overnight with 14gb and 7gb downloads. By the time I got done messing with everything yesterday, it seems I had multiple versions of everything installed everywhere with no clue which was correct. Now I only have one version of both and am running off of something called launchpad.exe. I'm also running everything now in UsersPublic instead of ProgramData since based on another post, it's supposed to be the new default location for SOE games, and my FreeRealms game was located there too. Hopefully that's the correct thing. In any case, it seems to be working with no more Trial version!

LaunchPad.exe is correct to launch the game now and is installed in the EQII program folder. It sounds like you did the right thing by scrubbing your EQII installations and starting fresh. I've seen huge problems caused by things lying around that people didn't even know were there. This is especially true for eq2.exe, no matter where it's lurking.

Custom UIs (and that included EQ2Maps) need to have their settings tweaked to point to launchpad.exe instead of eq2.exe. Trying to launch with eq2.exe actually has the potential to break your setup.

UsersPublic is in fact the new default location. Win7 doesn't screw around with things installed there the way it does with things installed in Program Files, Program Files(x86), and ProgramData. EQII runs with much less trouble there.

Sorry you had so much trouble, but it looks like you have a solid installation now.
