I am not sure how the math probability works. If I have 3 items with a 5% heal proc will that increase my chance of that heal procing? I remeber somwhere in the back of my brain about probabilities: you would not get a 15% chance of a proc. But are your chances improved at all?

"It depends".

Some things stack, others don't. You just have to test for yourself to discover which ones do. There is absolutely no hard and fast rule about what does and what doesn't stack. You can list generalities, but inconsistency is the name of the game in EQ2. There are ALWAYS exceptions.

As far as the increase, it would work like this for 3 procs that stacked fully with a 5% chance:

100 swings x 5% = 5 procs, 95 failures.

95 swings x 5% = 4.75 procs, 90.25 failures.

90.25 swings x 5% = 4.5 procs, 85.75 failures.

A "proc rate" of approximately 14.25 percent.

If they stack fully, then all 3 have a seperate chance to proc at any time either of them has a chance to proc. So as Bandit said, in that example you would have a 14.25% chance either of them will proc, but you'll also have a chance two or even all 3 will proc at the same time.

And the generalities:- For buffs and debuffs: Later procs overwrite older ones (including same effects of other players), unless they specifically state they stack.- Direct effects: These stack fully, unless they specifically state they don't.

Of course, plenty of exceptions around. You'll just have to try them to figure those out.

Some adorns will work like that (chance for multiple procs), but others do not. For example, Manawell does not work like that. It can only proc one time per spell cast.

EQ2 is only consistent at inconsistency.

I was surprised to see this since I took Lemilla's meaning to be identical to the response. Maybe I am giving Lemilla too much credit...still clarification of details might be needed. I just have issue with passing clarification as correction. ("'not exactly' true").

when working for consensus, a mindset of seeing how others could be right > a mindset of seeing how others could be wrong.

Nitpicking over gramar?

What Banditman said is right.

While I fear I am just feeding the bridge dwellers here . . .

No. I wasn't trying to 1 up Lemilla. Let's say I have something that "fully stacks", like a 5% Potency adorn or whatever. By fully stacking, it means that if all three proc, I get 15% potency, right? That's fully stacking.

It still doesn't mean that each one gets a full opportunity to proc on each trigger. There are some effects which can only go off once per trigger opportunity. I used Manawell as an example.

Understanding procs in this game is incredibly difficult, and the only teacher is experience. Trying to say that something "always" works one way is absolutely impossible.
