Beastlords are way OP.

Within, literally, day two of AoD release there were beastlords doing over 100K dmg in T4 gears bgs. And now at least one gets over 100k on almost every bg. Over the past couple of weeks I've seen nothing but a warlock out dps BL and that was on rare occasions. I use BGs as an example because there aren't raids or lots of xp groups in lower levels to do parse comparisons.

I know with the new class SoE'd make them a little OP, but a brawler/shaman hybrid intended to be the highest dps consistently? In lower levels at least there is no comparison.

*Edit*

And, no, it's not a question of comparing gear -- veteran fully maxed out sorcerors/predators in gear/aa can't touch mediocre geared BL's dps is way over the top.

Nothing new there, just look at how op the Death Knight was in Wow when they came.

The companies wants us to play the class, they want us to buy the expansion.Best way to reach out to the most people is to make sure they are a little op to get people running thru levels.

Give it a couple of weeks and the hammer will come down on the Beast Lords also.

Who wants them really?

Since this is a class added later on they need to play 'catch up' when it comes to its potential population. If all they did was exactly as well as any other class why would most people bother? They will be OP for a while, people will get settled in who decide to stay and others will move on. Once the numbers start to level off they will start getting nerfed.

Unlike content where it's better for them to make it too hard then make it easier, new classes need a strong appeal from the start. Imagine if BL's came out UNDER powered, you'd be lucky to see any running around now or even later on when if they bumped them up.

Either they will get nerfed down to every other class or SoE wanted BL's to be to deathblow of EQ2.

BLs are a complicated class. There are many specialties to be had with the "pets" and many different combinations. It is a class where there will be a lot of average players with very very few who have mastered the BL.

The other day, someone mentioned how their BL was uber. The person was "solo" killing mobs 7 levels higher than their BL. Of course, they had a merc to help! Apparently this person had never been able to solo kill mobs 7 levels above their character's level before they rolled a beastlord.

Yesterday, at level 59, I was killing a mob who was level 69. I was solo a 'zerker, and had no merc. I have also solo killed heroics (3up) who were yellow and on occasion orange. I have done this on several different characters including priests, bruiser, and of course, warlock. And I consider myself an average player.

I suspect the BL is just like every other class. It does have limitations.

See I play two accounts always. When I played on Freeport before game was F2P I did the same thing. I always played a Warden and and SK.

Now I play a Beastlord and I have a merc. So no longer need to play a 2nd account. (though I still have it). So for me, the playstyle of two classes does not change. Only thing that changes is one I don't need to keep switching back and forth with.

And to be honest I played an SK so I was already used to being OP.

There's no such thing as being "over powered" below the level cap. Oberservations made below the cap aren't really useful since they have little to impact when the developers are looking at balance.

Saying that, they are still dishing it out at a much higher effeciency than other level 90 DPS classes. I doubt there are enough practical samples around yet. They will probably have a good backlog of data when they come back from the holidays though.
