As the title says, I've been having horrible issues with getting kicked to character select since GU62. Here's what happens: I log into the game just fine. I select a character. I begin to log that character in. As soon as I get in-game, my ping will shoot up to 8-9k, and my throughput (for lack of a better term, the yellow number on the FPS meter) will shoot up to well over 30k, and then I get dumped to character select. Repeatedly. Sometimes, it takes me more than 15 tries to get logged in. It doesn't matter if I use the new launcher (which sucks, btw. Whoever authorized it should be given coal for Christmas) or if I use EverQuest2.exe. Same problem. This happens on both of my machines, and two different OS's on my main machine.

Please, sort this out.

ever since gu62 i get that 8k ping every time i log in, zone or swap chars. hitting my macro 'camp toon' the ping starts climbing to 8k while the 20 sec timer counts down. and every time im sat 5 mins waiting for ping to restabilise, even evac causes this

Let's find out where the latency is coming from, we have a network test you can perform. Feel free to post, PM, or create a support ticket with the results. Post incident numbers here if you open tickets.

I need you to bring up a run dialog box. You can do this by pressing and holding the Windows key on your keyboard and tapping the R key.

In the box that pops up I need you to type cmd and press Enter (If you're using Windows Vista/7 press ctrl-shift-enter).

This is going to bring up an old “DOS box” don’t worry it’s just text.

You’ll need to type in the following commands one at a time. Remember to put spaces between all the words, unless there’s a special character like / or . in front of the word. Then you’ll want to keep that symbol and the word together.

If you’re having a lot of trouble you can also just copy and paste the text out of this email and into the DOS box.

These commands can take a while to run so please wait for the blinking cursor to appear since you won’t see any output to your screen. For the pathping commands you might even want to go grab some coffee, or a sandwich between lines.

So, all set? Here’s the commands:

   ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt

   tracert "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

          (for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

          freeport.everquest2.com)

   pathping "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

          (for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

          freeport.everquest2.com)

If you’re curious what you’re saving for us, try the commands again but without the >’s or the stuff after them. Go ahead, I’ll wait… Pretty confusing huh? Don’t worry I speak gibberish fluently and can translate it for you.

Ok now that you’re done with that, you’ll have a file on your hard drive called “eq2info.txt”. If you go into your hard drive you’ll find it right in the main folder. To get there, just do that Windows key and R trick from earlier, and type C: and press enter. The file will be in there. Just send that file into me, I’ll translate it and figure out what happened to your connection, then I’ll let you know. No worries it’ll be pretty painless, but we might need you to contact another company if it’s not something on your computer that’s doing this.

Update: It seems that I can play (mostly) fine, as long as I play on Extreme Performance. If I try to play on higher settings, I get the never-ending kicked to desktop cycle. I wasn't having this problem at all before GU62.

just an update, im still having this issue and playing other stuff. but as this all started at gu62/server merge is it possible the port requirements have changed for our routers?, as i noticed i had similar ping action on another mmo until i configured the ports for it. and yes i have set the ports for both of my routers and one is hard-wired still getting this 8k ping

I'm not getting latency issues, but I am getting booted to character select.. and required to log in when it does so.

I get booted out of game, login failed. Reenter password, log back in to character select. Annoying. Did it three times last night on the way to Moors of Ykesha.

This has plagued me and many others that I have grouped with since GU62 as well. During the double XP I know it happened to me over 50 times. Sound like an exaggeration? Maybe, I specifically said that instead of close to 100 to avoid doing that.

It is ridiculous, Bells, Spires, Rings, Carpets or a portal to enter a zone it doesn't matter what form of transportation or what zone it happens on all of them and if it is not more than 1/3rd of the time it isn't far from it.

It happens to me with the same frequency at both locations I play from, I see it being complained about in level chat daily.

Joshua you are bar-none the best support rep they have on here many people tell you that and I don't think anyone would argue it, whatever you need to do, whoever you need to flail your arms up in the air and yell at SOE needs to start looking on their end on this one.
