Hello, I was deleteing some old programs and realized I have 2 seperate EQ2 icons in the add/remove program window. The first says it has not been used since 2008 and takes up over 10,000MB while the other icon has been used last night taking up 26,000MB. I was wondering if some how the first of the 2 icons is not needed for use of Everquest 2 since it hasn't been used for so long and I have been playing steadily for many years, or if the files are infact needed. I really would like to free up space if possible, if there is someone that knows what is going on here please let me know, I will check back frequently if more information is needed.

firstly i ask if you have EQ2 installed in the default directory or a custom directory?

It may be at some point you forgot you had an old version and reinstalled to a new (or the default location) which the new launchpad of the time you last installed (i'm presuming) didn't pick up on the original installer resulting in you having two directories and entries.

I would suggest you navigate to your EQ2 install that you are currently using and make the folder and all files contained "read only" so that windows or any program can't alter the files. next open your start menu and hit run type in regedit (in windows) at the top where it says computer right click and select export, name the file and save it to desktop(incase soemthing goes wrong and your normal EQ2 install reg data is lost) - opening the saved file will revert the registery if something does go wrong.

Then going to add/remove programs to remove the smaller of the two.

then ether it will:

1) find the uninstaller in the old version and run it

2) not find the uninstaller and give an error message/crash the add remove programs window.

If it doesn't give an error message then your problems are solved. if it does it means there are two sets of registery keysets for two installs at the same location meaning you may have deleted the old install folder straight into the recycle bin or the uninstaller didn't work properly or one is listed as the base game and the other entry is from one of the later expansions.

Lastly take off the "read only" attribute from the EQ2 directory and files so the game can function normally.
