So last week, when the new launchpad was released I had awful problems finding out how to get into EQ2 (since all I was getting was some window that looked like a stopwatch), until I was pointed at the manual install of LP4. So LP4 was installed, and it all ran fine, until I go home from work half an hour ago, try to run the launchpad, and I seem to have reverted to that funny stopwatch thing .... So tried the manual install of LP4, but all I get is that funny blue stopwatch thing Anyone any ideas?

First thing I would do is make sure that the shortcut you use points to LaunchPad.exe in your current EQII folder. Your original LP may have been installed in a separate folder. I had this problem on one system, but fixed it by copying LaunchPad.exe from another that was working. Not sure if this is an option for you.

You might try getting the absolute latest installer for your setup (streaming or full-asset) and using that to reinstall LaunchPad. I presume that's what you did when you say you did the manual install, but I'd try again with a fresh download of the installer.

-= Therendil =-

Delete the EQ2.exe file and never run it again.

Delete any and all EQII shortcuts from your desktop.

Re-install the Full Assets LaunchPad 4 to the proper folder again.

Only use the newly created shortcut to access the game.

The stopwatch launcher comes from running the old EQ2.exe which was patched out of LP4.

Hmmm. Sounds like you've done the right thing here. I do note that you're in the UK. I don't know if locale may have anything to do with it, athough it seems not to be an issue with others in UK/EU,

I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave this one for others to help with. If I have any bright ideas, I'll post them.

-= Therendil =-

Avoid that EQ2.exe file until you get LP4 installed and fully patched! You can even delete the EQ2.exe file altogether.

Good to know. I had missed the fact that running eq2.exe had the power to raise the dead. Gonna make a note of that.

-= Therendil =-

It was very confusing when we first recieved reports of it. Then it turned out a lot of people continue to use EQ2Maps so if you do that make sure you don't use the open eq functionality, always go through our executables, preferably the LaunchPad itself.

That has been talked about a lot at EQ2Interface. We've been walking a lot of people through the process of resetting custom UIs and EQ2Maps to launch with LaunchPad.exe.

I should probably post something there clarifying the problems with running eq2.exe.

-= Therendil =-

I did actually remove EQ2.exe from my EQ2 directory before the previous try at reinstalling LP4, but apparently it was still finding it until I dumped it in the recycle bin (and no my shortcuts were not pointing at it) - bizarre. Seems to be working now (though admittedly it had been working since tues/wed last week until today ) so thankyou
