My friend and I are both experiencing issues.

We both crashed from the game (a common occurance with the new launcher, thanks for that by the way). Both of our characters, my beastlord and his assassin, are locked in Timorous Deep. Everytime we attempt to load the characters, it crashes the client on "Updating Environmental Map."

Not sure if it really matters, but we were both in Mok Rent, standing around BSing.

It has nothing to do with the LaunchPad and existed before we pushed LP4.

As for the commentary about the new LaunchPad, it's not a common occurance for it to crash at all. I can help you troubleshoot or identify why You are crashing if you would like.

So two questions:

1) How do we access our characters?

2) Launchpad is consistently crashing when I attempt to dual box. It'll crash one or the other. It doesn't matter which, and there is no pattern to it. It just does. Highly annoying when I pay for 2 accounts and I can't even use them simultanously.

Are you using just 1 launchpad from a single installation? You should be tabbing back to the already open LaunchPad and using the logout/switch account feature as opposed to multiple installations.

For the characters stuck in Mok Rent, you can delete the Timorous Deep files from your Everquest IIPAKS folder and it should let you out of the area. Try to avoid camping out in Mok Rent until we've posted that the issue is resolved.

I've searched high and low, and I don't have a PAKS folder anywhere on my PC.

Fixed the issue myself. I referred to this post:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=484813

But let me just speak for a moment on how disappointed I am with this. This has been an issue for over a YEAR AND A HALF now? That posts dates AUGUST of 2010. Look, I understand you guys are busy, and you've recently suffered a staff cut. But when you're able to shove out new marketplace junk every single week, there should be NO reason whatsoever that issues like this still exist after a YEAR AND A HALF!

If you're not going to put forth the resources to FIX the issue, at the very least, put message up when you walk into the place like "Mok Rent - Do not camp here." Wouldn't have helped ME since I crashed, but it'll help those that unknowingly camp there.

Not everyone checks the forums, ya know.

Let me point out a real life example outside EQ2. At my last tech gig as a test engineer, I discovered a 'day 1' bug that had been in the product for five years. It took forever to find it and forever to come up with a fix. The people affected by the bug of course assumed that we didn't care and weren't trying.

If you have never done this job then you have no idea how hard it is to fix some bugs.

-= Therendil =-

Try to avoid camping out in Mok Rent until we've posted that the issue is resolved.

I tried this. However, it doesn't seem to help. The launcher just downloads the exact same files and I'm still stuck at the same point.

I find this almost hysterical in that I thought I'd come and give this game a shot for a few days....to see if I might enjoy it again after a year off, and this is my welcome. You'd think that fixing a newbie zone would be a very high priority.

I've tried everything...I'm honestly not sure what the next step might be than to call Customer Service and see if one of them can log in and move my character. But, what do I do then? I *NEED* to play in Mok Rent for my character's progression. Sure, I can avoid camping there I guess...but, what about if I go link dead or the server crashes?

Oh well...new mmo to play comes out in a few days anyways I guess.....

Getting rather weary of this too. Happened a bit yesterday, then ran the fix recc in another post (can't find it now--so many on same subject--good thing I remember)...then it was working fine. Now tonight, I zone to TD and hold my breath waiting...and crash again. Back to the fix AGAIN. (weird that it happens to be my BL too.) *sigh*

Do not see it listed in the patch notes for today.

**huge additional sigh**

Fix I am using btw, is the one where you delete the certain ini files etc.

I havebeen having this same issue on both my desktop and laptop computers in Mok Rent area and Gorowyn in Timorous Deep, not just Mok Rent. It used to hapen every now and then, but afte 3 or 4 attempts would finally load, but now it seems I can't load either of 2 characters I mostly play on with my PC now.

Removing the assets cache worked, though itb would be nice if asset files were separated more by zone or global so that if there is a situation with a certain zone that you could just delete that particular zone related files.

I forgot and accidently tried to zone into Timerous Deepp from Commonlands bell and now have a character stuck hanging at updating environment map, again. This does not seem to be a settings hardware or graphics card on my part since it is happening on 3 different computers and across servers.

My uneducated guess is the shader issues that seemed to have cropped up might be responsible.

The water in timerous deep at the dock area has often given me issues since shader 3.0 came out, though I have never used it.

Hmm thinking about the mok rent people gettting stuck too is there some difference in the water graphics in Timerous compared to other zones?

I know I dont have trouble getting into timerous if I use an alt's magical gorowyn house and zone in from there. Never had hangup from that only near water.

I have always found the water effect at Mok Rent to generate more than usual lag. The waterfalls with their particle effects are a huge cycle sink.

Timorous Deep has always lagged worse for me than most other areas. There may be some fundamental issue there. I'm not hanging as some people are, but I have had problems in the past getting into the zone.

I am also having this issue. It's rather obnoxious... and I can see it being a HUGE problem for a new player who keeps on crashing without knowing to go and "Repatch" corrupt zone files.

This needs to be fixed pronto.

This issue persist's for me and I've tried the remedies and it still occurs. It's also not just Mok Rent as it happens to me zoning to Gorowyn. This just started happening to me in the last 30 days.

When it happens sometimes I can log out of windows and back in and restart EQ2 and the character will be in Gorowyn where I was trying to go.Sometimes it takes 10 relogs to work.

Really frustrating as my main house is in Gorowyn

Seriusly may have to relocate because of this persistent problem.

How do I access my toon then? I want to finish my Knight of D'Lere quest before the 14 days are up and I can't log him back in now I've even tried deleting the client and repatching.

I had a character stuck there long ago, I think I had to relog to options screen and turn the water particle crap off and draw distance way down in windowed mode.
