I installed EQ2 and the log in window works fine I even have the new one installed. "EQ2 client application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience." then it says please tell Microsoft about the problem and submit the report. I hit submit it sends the data to Microsoft and closes. I have installed and uninstalled soo manytimes that I am getting frustrated and about to go back to PWI which I un-installed to play EQ2. I have no idea what the issues are but I have run WOW; PWI; and EQ on this box I dont see why EQ2 is any different. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The onboard video device you are using has some very old drivers installed. Check the manufacturer's site for any updated versions. You may also need to update your DirectX with the link below.

Please download and run the file linked in the article below. This is a self-extracting executable file that will prompt you to select a folder for extraction. Create a folder on your desktop and direct it to that folder. Once complete, open that folder and run the DXSETUP file to start the actual update itself.

[DX9] June 2010 - http://www.microsoft.com/download/e...ls.aspx?id=8109

I did my best but it still didn't work. Any other idea's?

I was using the streaming install, but I think I will try using the full install and see if that happens. I know I have played EQ2 on the free trial, but I did a complete un-install/wipe of all old files.

Well, I have one system with Intel embedded graphics and I run AoD. I go to the Intel support site to get the latest graphics drivers, since you have a better chance of getting the latest ones.

That said, I will be honest enough to wonder how much can be done. I have an older system similar in stats to yours except for having a pretty powerful graphics card. Even with the graphics horsepower, it can barely run EQ2.

EQ2 is a very demanding game. The others you mentioned are much easier on the system. You would have to test Rift or Vindictus to come close.

After researching your model at the Dell web site, I see that upgrading physical memory from 1GB to 2GB is possible. Since the embedded graphics use system RAM for video, a 1GB system is really cramped. Doubling that could make a huge difference.

Oh, and for what it's worth... The video driver listed in the dxdiag info is actually slightly newer than the one listed at Dell Support. Did not check the Intel site, but you may well have the latest.

-= Therendil =-

Thank you both for your help maybe I am just not intended to play EQ2 on this box. I can play EQ1 with no problems too bad that one isn't free to play!

I did the two day full install and it still doesn't work.

About the RAM issue I wish! When I got this box (granted from a friend for free when my good one died); it only had a 1/2 gig mem. I had to buy 1 gig sticks from China for this box and that was a nightmare.

I am working on getting a new computer, all I am missing now is the video card Maybe Santa will bring me one!

I am going to leave this installed for now in case a solutions comes up but I am not going to fight with it anymore. I am re-installing PWI anyway, my daughter wants it back so I will fool around with that for now

Well, I'll tell Santa to be nice to you. As I recall, your system uses RAMBUS memory, which can be a pain to find. The price can get hairy for the larger modules as well. I got lucky and was able to buy a pair of 512MB sticks at about $25 each for my Dimension 8200. That was over a year ago, however. Haven't gone shopping lately, but reliable vendors can be found on eBay.
