Templar 2H DPS viable?

<p>Hey,</p><p>I'm in process of leveling a Templar with a 2H hammer going through STR/STA AA and curious if this is viable damage output at later levels?</p>

<p>Your primary stat is WIS now for dps, WIS affects your melee dps and your spell dps.  STA is still good for health pool.  I used to love to tweak my templar to have decent dps since ROK, but with each successive xpac it's been less fun with MUCH less options, although it's easier since there are less options.</p><p>Going into DOV I've noted that much less of my dps is coming from melee/auto attack.  Up to and including SF I saw about 40% of my dps coming from my autoattack.  In DOV I'm seeing it more like 20%, with 80% coming from spells.  The other issue is that there are very very few 2h hammers for priests in DOV, SOE made a decision to not support the melee priests in this xpac.  If you look back at DOV launch there are a lot of posts on the subject, and also some posts on which 2h hammers are out there.  The first decent 2h hammer you will get is the one from finishing the TOFS x2, the next decent hammer IMO is the taltaak one later on.   I've also found that my overall dps does better when using a 1h hammer, I haven't delved too deeply into ACT but I suspect that I get more stats out of using 1h + symbol or shield than I do out of 2h.</p><p>I can't say I really have tried very hard to make my templar a dps machine this xpac, I was very successful at it in SF/TSO at times out parsing inquisitors, but DOV was just so incredibly lackluster to priests in general that I had no desire to really explore dpsing so I'm sure other templars chiming in here will be more helpful.</p>

<p>Also as far as STR/STA lines go it's pretty much the same as it's always been, you can max them out nicely especially since you can now get 320 AA and go to 100 in the cleric line.  You still get a very decent amount of dps from autoattack so it's worth maxing those lines, you just don't get as much out of them as you used to in past xpacs.  One thing to note is that the WIS line may be worth putting some points into over the autoattack stuff in STR/STA, but I have not played around with this at all.  It may depend on what you are trying to do because the WIS line really neuters your healing.</p>

<p>It'll cost some money but you can buy one of the 2h attuneable hammers from EoW easymode if raid gear is not possible for you.  I was seeing them go for 200 plat or so on Crushbone.</p>
