My Characters locked despite grandfathering

<p>I was not aware of the grandfathering when I logged back in yesterday. All my characters were locked, and after a bit of math, I decided it would be cheaper to purchase a subby if I wanted to play on my old 'friends'. Today I was discussing this with a friend and he told me about the Grandfatering of pre-existing characters.<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/385970365b8ed7503b4294502a458efa.gif" border="0" /></p><p> So now I have spent money on a sub I didn't need, and when it is up, I will likely lose access to these since they were locked before I ponied up the bucks.</p><p>So what now? Can this be 'fixed'?</p>

I bet you have a good chance at getting a refund, but either way your characters will still be unlocked when your sub goes away.

Can this be 'fixed'?</p></blockquote><p>The grandfathering plan will not give you additional character slots.  You will need a membership level to access slots you cant reach or purchase the slots directly.  What the grandfathering plan will do is avoid having to purchase Race/Class packs only, for those pre-existing characters.  So make sure you are understanding it correctly so you don't request a refund for the sub when you needed it for the slots it granted (just assuming).</p>

<p>When I moused over the characters the message said it was locked because I did not have the race / class access. The only character I had open was one I had created on the Freeport server a few days earlier, before the changeover.</p>
