View Full Version : Issues installing the new launcher (full version)

I've followed the link in the sticky in this forum to download the "full" (non-streaming) version of the launcher, but I have reason to suspect that I'm still running the streaming version regardless. When I click on "Play" to launch the game, I get a message saying that I need at least 2 gig of free space for streaming assets. (Yes, my hard drive is always horribly full, and I only had about 1.6 gigs of space at the time of that message.) After deleting the patcher and reinstalling it, I still received that message, so I finally gave in and deleted a few files to clear up a minor amount of space, thinking that it might just be a one-time thing (since this is supposedly the non-streaming version of the patcher and shouldn't be worried about streaming assets). Now I'm receiving a warning message that the game recommends 14 gigs of free space for streaming assets, and that it will shut down automatically if the drive gets filled. Is there any way to be certain that you're running the "full" version of the launcher? I've never received these messages before. I would assume that the full version would not mention streaming assets -- or care about free space at all, since everything has already been downloaded before entering the game, but perhaps I'm wrong. (I'll be the first to admit that only having 2 gigs of free hard drive space is sad -- my HD is in desperate need of an upgrade, but for now, freeing up 14+ gigs would be next to impossible, so I'd like to fix this, if at all possible.) Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to offer!

When you are in-game do you see the dancing dinosaur?

That's almost certainly the strangest question I'll get asked this week! I wasn't aware that there was a dancing dinosaur at first, but I did a quick bit of Google research and figured out what to look for. I don't see a dancing dinosaur *unless* I hit F10, at which point the dancing dinosaur appears, doing the running-man routine (well, more of a slow stride, really). I found another thread that mentioned the LaunchPad.ini settings, and the settings in my LaunchPad.ini file are for the "full" version. I've also been playing around a bit while watching my HD to see if I'm losing free space, and I'm not, so I *guess* I'm running the non-streaming version...but I still get that warning when I enter the game about streaming assets and needing X gigs of free space. I've never needed at least 2 gigs of free space just to enter the game before, so it seems kind of odd. Maybe it's just a temporary issue that will be resolved with a future patch. Thanks for the response!

No, Background Downloading is not enabled in-game.

Paste the contents of your Launchpad.ini file and double check your Windows program list to see if you have multiple EQII's installed.
