<p>When I click on PLAY in the new launcher (4.0.0.277) I get a message that "The options definition file failed to load"</p><p>I have tried using "Validate Game Assets which found a couple of files with bad CRCs and downloaded new versions, but that has not made a difference.</p><p>Yesterday I could get to the character select screen which was showing the server as locked.</p><p>Is there an alternative to reinstalling everything?</p>

<p>I am moving the folder from where it has been since I first installed EQ2 on this system 3 years ago.</p><p>I am wondering how EQ2 works without an internet connection, because you can't seriously be suggesting that I connect to the internet without a firewall or anti-virus software. That's not a basic step. That is a very last resort.</p>

However, I will say its hardly a last resort and is part of the basic steps. </p><p>If you disable AV/Firewall and it works, we know where the issue lies. From that point, further configuring them to exclude or allow our EQII game files and services is up to you.</p>
