I've looked through some of the other posts on this forum, but I can't see anybody else talking about the same problem I am experiencing.

When I start my EQ2 launcher it scans files and then comes up with what I assume is the new and improved launcher interface, but this is all I can see:

Not only can I not read what it says in that teeny tiny message window, but there is no option to log in to EQ2. I don't know if that's because the game isn't up yet after the massive update or anything, and I can't seem to find any information on whether it's up yet no matter where I search because all the EQ2 pages say they are becoming free to play and check back later.

Is there something I need to do here or is this something that's already in the works to be fixed?

Thanks for any help you guys can give on this!

That is a skinless old, first generation LaunchPad (a.k.a "LP1").

Did you ever see the new LaunchPad (a.k.a. LP4) show up or did this happen on your first launch?

-dan

Exact same thing here. I'm old school. I have used EQ2.exe since the beginning.

Edit to update: Using launcher link from this thread http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=510248 and it seems to be downloading fine now. So, nm. /grumbles about being forced out of his archaic and ancient ways

No, I have not seen any other launcher other than the one I've seen for the past 5 years and this one that popped up when I've tried to log on since the 6th.

I've gone to the link on one of the other threads to get LP4 now, hopefully that'll work. It's checking my files now so we'll see!

Thanks for the help!

There are links to the installers [in this post].

As long as you install it into the same directory as your game assets, you won't have to download the entire game again.

-dan

Ok, so I used a link for LP4 from one of the other threads last night and once it was done installing everything went smoothly, however, this morning, when I try to start EQ it goes right back to that super old launcher. Is there a way to get LP4 to be the default that I haven't seen?

If you are up front about whats not working I can make recommendations and help fix it. The commentary portion doesn't really help anyone.

The only way I can think of that happening is if you run the old EQ2.exe file which doesnt exist in LP4, its not Everquest2.exe

Make sure you update your links in the EQ2Maps options if that is the case.

None can update? Try bypassing your router altogether and plugging directly in to your modem just to eliminate that as a potential cause.

I was launching EQ2 via the shortcut that it made on my desktop when I installed LP4; I don't use EQ2 Maps. (PC upstairs does but hasn't been affected by this.) I re-installed LP4 for a 3rd time into my EQ2 and for whatever reason it seems to be working again, for now at least.

TBH, I'm more concerned about not being able to update or play on any machine. I've tried reseting the router twice but that hasn't worked. I can try dragging the modem up from the basement tomorrow when no one's home, but I don't have high hopes for that tbh, as Spiritchaser6 already said it didn't work for him.

Bypass router, disable firewall/av/internet security software, and make sure the game is in the UsersPublic folder. Old installations that are upgraded may be located elsewhere such as in C:Program Files, C:Program Files (x86), or C:ProgramData

I just wanted to update here and say that the reason I was still having problems with the launcher was because even though I'd updated the launcher as I was directed, I didn't realize that it had put a new icon on the desktop as I had other windows open and didn't see it. I have my EQ2 shortcut in my hot tray of frequently used programs, and I kept using that shortcut. When it wasn't working, I went back to that download link a few times in order to try and figure out what I was doing wrong, because that was the only way I could find to get into the game. Then, I closed my other windows and found like 4 shortcuts for EQ2 on my desktop. LOL

So, I've replaced the old shortcut, (which was pointed at the correct exe file, btw, so I'm still not sure why it wasn't working) with one of the new ones that was on the desktop and it seems to work fine now.

I really want to thank SOE customer service, JoshuaM in particular as well as DanKinney for your help with this stuff. I really appreciate it!
