i was looking forward to this expansion so i could make dungeons until swtor came out...

then i heard on the webcast, that you could actually tame a duck for your warder....

Suddenly i found myself wanting to make a beastlord, just so i can have a vicious duck attack all the monsters and kill them... gotta love that image, and can't wait to see what attack animations they have put in...

So anyone else sold on the duck, or is there another specific pet that made you suddenly chose beastlord?

duckpet sold me on BL's being worthwhile, rather then a complete waste. And its also my understanding, that there will be 1 duck on the server, 90^^, highly contested in the form of 1 spawn per server reset. Just what I heard through the grapevine...but, yea, the duck did it for me.

As a SWG Beast Master refugee, I am quite hoping that SOE will come out with a "Beast Alchemy" system that's basically a copy of the Beast Master crafting system we have in SWG these days. So many people love the BM system in SWG and so many people have been asking to have the Creature Handler taming back that the collective jump for glee of all the SWG BMs would send the Earth off kilter if SOE said they'd add something very much like SWG's BM crafting to EQ2.

But yes, the duck is epic and I approve.

i always wanted a badger (dunno why !) they look cute in eq2 :3

i created a coercer when eq2 was released and leveled it until 37 (when coercer got the 1 charm spell if i remember well) just to go around charming mobs

The duck is a named MOB, Mallard Phimore. It is a proximity-triggered spawn and automatically scales to match the level of the character who triggers it. It always spawns as a ^^ heroic. I highly doubt it is as rare as you've heard, because I saw a few people on Beta with the duck, and I was able to just walk into Gnomeland Security and find him up.

His combat animations consist of a single pecking motion with his beak. He is comically small, and his movement animation was obviously never meant to to move as fast as he does, so he's really amusing to watch. Being so small, he is rather difficult to keep track of, though. At times it's hard to see where he is or if he's even attacking the MOB.

Overall, the duck is pretty awesome. However, the real reason to play a beastlord is to tame The Meatbeast.

Strange that we can tame the meatbeast, but not elephants, if this is really true. Seems like elephants would qualify as a beast if ducks and cows are LOL. I love the idea of a duck warder, but was actually looking forward to an elephant as my first

I was going to get the duck, level 90 ^^^ in a certain secret zone that isn't always available, but I actually preferred the Bovid as a warder, it was better for me to play with and the duck because less attractive. The meatbeast is a bovid too and thee is something just perfect about that creature.

Hmm, do I roll a beastlord with a beaver or a beastlord with a meatbeast.

Descisions descisions.

I think the duck is going to be one of those "look at me" pets that everyone ends up having because they think it will be cool or unique. Too bad it's already at the top of a lot of BL lists to tame, so it will be neither by the end of the first week.
