So I went and installed LP4 by hand, since it refused to update my old one, no problems.

NOW, when I login and patch, it says there is 156 files to update and I get

Replacing paks/fprt_south.vpk

And it hangs forever here. the copy of fprt_south.vpk in the game directory is from 2009, so I know it never updates it.

I renamed it, and re-ran LP and it says "creating" but continues to hang on this file. Tried copying it to a new directory and re-running, still hangs here.

Anything I can do, short of a new installation (I can't find my DVD's and don't want a 20gb download)? Or is the patch server having trouble or anything?

I would not start over. If that file is truly the problem, you will hit it again. I'd keep going.

-dan

mine hung up on something in freeport, but it finally started going again. Hung up the longest near the end on something to do with steam. I resisted re starting patch and it finally went on and did it's thing.

If you are stuck updating a particular file (look at the log), you could delete that particular file and try to download it again.

Downloads come from one of several CDN partners that we use.
Hmm, I tried renaming the file, and it just says "creating" instead of "replacing"

I remember there was an issue with the old launcher, where sometimes it would fail to write a file and then quit, I remember there was a workaround, but don't recall what it was, would thaty be applicable here? Or is this launcher completely different?

I'd hate to do a complete install via download, but if I must I must.

This is a completely different system.

Be patient with it. Reinstalling from scratch will only bring you back to this spot again.

-dan

Will keep you updated, but please let me know if you can think of a solution.

After several attempts over the last 3 hours with no luck I started doing a few different things (including deleting launchpad files and letting them re-install, changing config files) and nothing seemed to work until I ran the program from eq2.exe, this brought up the launchpad and patched things correctly.

However I received errors trying to patch assetsdb.dll, sequencesound.dll and everquest2.exe so I renamed them, and was able to patch corretctly after that. Everything seems up to date now.

It took me quite some time to reinstall ... Alot of "just seemingly idle" parts while downloading but eventually, all the files were downloaded.

Thanks for hanging in there. We'll be up in the morning and we can all get some much needed grind time in. We apologize very much for the inconvenience the extended downtime is causing.
