I was hoping for something better, like the newest launcher

It appears I can play Infantry and Cosmic Rift, and get a refund for something or another. ROFLOL

And to add to the confusion, the EQ2X launcher seems fine, although it downloaded 40.1 MB of something.

KK, have done so and it seems to work. Now the EQ2X stuff dissappeared, but that is fine I guess. Now I just need to see all my character slots. It looks like I lost five of them and I didn't even have a toon on EQ2X If they are not back by the time I get home from giving a final tonight I will petition it.

Go into your add/remove programs (or just 'Programs' if you're on Vista/7) and you should be able to find Station Launcher or Station LaunchPad or similar there.

When I FIRST updated to the new launcher, it launched the really old launchpad launcher that is hugely out of date and has the old games. I deleted the files but it still did. I then removed both entries from my program list and then it worked fine - maybe try that.

I thought the same, but strangely I had literally deleted both Station Launcher and Launchpad directories. When I launched the 'launchpad' from within the EQ2 directory that the installer-created shortcut made it launched the old launchpad.. It wasn't until I uninstalled both that it cleaned itself up.

It was weird for sure, just throwing it out there in case others have old stuff lying around causing weird problems like I did.

i just have to say, needing to re-run the game installer just to get the updatd launcher to work seems rediculous. a new launcher should not have caused this much confusion/frustration. 4 hours later, still waiting ot hear from 'live chat' i think i have it resolved - at least i have the new launcher 'downloading'

Cleaning out old stuff is essential to avoid high weirdness. This is especially true with shortcuts. This is one reason I run the registry repair tool in CCleaner - it finds broken and orphan shortcuts, as well as leftover registry entries that point nowhere.

TSR has also posted good advice about doing global searches of hard drives to find and remove odd EQ bits you didn't realize you had. It is especially important to find and nuke eq2.exe everywhere. Trying to launch with that is almost certain to bring the 'wristwatch' back from the dead.
