Ok Sony, you turned it all off at Midnight Pacific time for a new update, it

has been 7 hours so far so how about waking up the person at the switch??

I see you edited your initial time of 12 hours to 7, which is more accurate, but since they said it would be a 12 hour down time earlier, your concern of someone being alseep at the switch is 5 hours premature....

Ah, thankee greatly. I'd looked over what messages I found &

evidently missed the one stating it would be 12 hours. I've only

been in EQ2 for a little over 2 weeks & I'm, still learning the

particular foibles of this forum, few forums work exactly the

same when it comes to searching it. The time frame was due

to the fact I occasionally screw up the east coast-west coast

time switch.

JUst spent last 45 minutes looking but still can''t find anything

about it being 12 hours but oh well.

Well now, it's been over 16 hours with nothing more than vague reassurances. No personal insult intended but I must say that I'm more than a little underwhelmed with the output of Sony's IT department. How long has this changeover been in the works? I understand that there is often some brassbutt in the higher office that will override their IT people but in any intelligent corporation a major change like this would have been all lined up ready to drop in with few errors. However from what I've been hearing over more than a decade this type of situation is normal from Sony.

With 20 servers for EQ2 alone each having at LEAST 50,000 paying players paying a minimum of $10.00 per month on average Sony is making at LEAST Ten MILLION Dollars a Month from its customers from EQ2 alone. Yes they are going to a free play setup but this problem should have been fixed Long ago over the last 8 years or so that they have been getting paid to support this game.

There should be a complete duplicate backup computer fully capable of taking over running the game in case the main computer went down. This update should have been installed on that backup & tweaked until it ran smoothly. THEN it should have been copied over to the main setup once it was working. Some will say that it wouuld cost too much to do that, I would refer them to how much they make per month. I doubt that a backup setup would cost more than a small portion of their monthly income from this game.

Again, I'm not blaming the poor schmucks down in the server rooms tearing their hair out trying to get us up & running. The ones I'm pointing my fingers at are the higher brass that likely overrode their IT people saying no to a good backup standby system saying it was an unwarranted expense. I'd lay a fair bet that VERY few of those brass hats have Ever even considered Playing the games that have making them rich over the lase 20 years plus.

One thing that would likely calm many of the players down a bit would be if Sony would make some good faith statements about what the problems are & an honest appraisal of the expected time they expect on being back online & keep updating it.

To be honest, none of what you wrote up is close to whats going on and we're doing our best to get the game up and running as quickly as possible.

Locking this up. The connection support forum are for requests or discussion on troubleshooting client side connectivity issues. Discussion on policy isn't best served here as I am simply a technician. Our general discussion forums are exposed to community management and producers who would be able to do much more with your feedback on these topics.
