It is widely thought that the festival was started by a demigod who hid gifts of food and other goodies for the citizens of Norrath. No one knows exactly when the tradition first began, but over the years it has developed into a holiday celebrated by all Norrathians.

New Quest Rewards 2011

Frostfell begins on December 6th and runs until January 3rd.
Having the same problem, says I need to set up a subscription and I have one! I had the new launcher already as I wiped my computer over a week ago and re downloaded EQ from the website. But after I patched over 10K mbs (almost 3 hours) and then went to use the patcher...it said the desktop shortcuts I had were bad...so I deleted them and tried the "repair/reinstall" to no avail. It takes me to log in..then says I need a new subscription.

Frustrating...having the GU and expansion start on Frostfell after only testing it for what..3 weeks? If I ran my business like this I would be out of business!

Fix this please!

Oh, and Frostfell is my favorite time of year too!

The 'you need a subscription' problem is related to the issues of merging the player databases, and that is why the downtime is so long. They are having far more trouble than they expected getting the databases to merge and have every player's record come out exactly right. The servers are up. The doors are just closed until the task of correctly updating millions of player records is finished and tested.

-= Therendil =-

I had a lot of fun during Frostfell, but I wish end times were more explicit. With so many events ending at midnight on the day stated, it's easy to assume that when it isn't stated. I had plans to buy some trees and spend some tokens that the morning end-time nixed. Still, it was overall fun.

unfortunately I didn't do much of anything during frostfell . . . . I just wasn't in the mood and we had company so I had other things going on. (didn;t get to sit in front of my machine all day every day this Christmas. . . I actually went out and did fun things like go to Dickens Faire in San Francisco!)

Anyway. . I did manage to get on and get my gifites . .all I got were candles which worked out nicly though because I put them all going down the entrance to my Lavastorm house. . . Bellatryx LeStrange. . . .(yes. .Harry Potter fan!)

Any guesses on what she is??

It would be nice if we could finally craft these recipes after the event is over. This is the only holiday that doesn't allow it and it falls on the worst time for people to actually be present and get things done.

It is appreciated that you let us know this =)

And its all well and good. But, unless I missed something, it did not clarify if you intended to leave it closed or reopen a little longer or...?

I do not think it helps or is productive to claim entitlement or anything like that. I was taught the get more flies with honey thing most of my life. I do, however, think it would be very beneficial for both sides to extend this event a mere day or so, for a few reasons. It would be, first and foremost, a goodwill gesture, which would take little effort from you (not like it requires lots of coding or anything to turn on and keep people happy while you fix other things.) It would bring out a positive response, as did your making good on the double xp. And there are a few good reasons for seeing people would want this:

A)The extended downtime for the xpac did take away time from the event

B)The merge for, freeport especially, did take away more extensive time

c)The many bugs and server crashes (a couple servers were crashing at least half a dozen times in a week, or more) and other issues did cause some grief

Those and some I perhaps did not mention, would warrant an extension, as a goodwill gesture, and it costs you little or nothing to do so, and its win-win as it makes more customers happy and shows them good faith, and in turn helps them retain faith in you.

It won't kill me either way, though it would be nice to finish up some things I would like to and it would be nice. But I think it would be a positive thing, and not a "have-to" obviously, but it sure would be a nice gesture which would only look good for you (especially coupled with making good on the xp problem.) Just look at the positive response that post on FB got you alone. From a customer service standpoint, its not being weak or over-appeasing...it just is smart business and an overall nice gesture. Little things do mean a lot, especially in the average customers memory (at least it does for me.)

Just my two cents, adjusted for inflation.

Thanks the same guys/gals! =)

Just my two cents...

The in-game calendar says 01/03/2011 02:00 PM, for Frostfell to end. Taking the previouspost into consideration, that live events are usually stopped on a Tuesday, then is it wrong when times are quoted (unless otherwise stated), that such times would be PST?

Which implies that Frostfell should have still been running, only to end later...

The only source I found was the in-game calendar, which showed 12.00pm (midday) on the 3rd. Although not in the US, I play on a US server so am used to running to a Pacific clock, so I too took this to be Pacific time.

However, as different people seem to be seeing different times in the calendar, I am thinking that the calendar is maybe trying to calculate and display local time. If this is the case, it is failing miserably. I am in a Pacific+8 time zone, so if the official end time was actually entered into the calendar as 07.00am, I should have been seeing 03.00pm.

Either way, something has gone wrong with the end time displayed in the in-game calendar, resulting in confusion over the end time of event and missed opportunities to complete some of the Frostfell content.

a) Yes, everywhere (excluding in-game calendar) it was advertised as 'until 3rd Jan'b) Yes, there was no time put against the end time (admin fault) * Granted the oldies/veterans knows by now that if no time is given, it's usually the scheduled update time to be used *c) The in-game calendar may have been marked with an icon for the 3rd Jan. But if you go the actual starting date of Frostfell, there were actual times contained on that day. => Frostfell => Category: Frostfell => Start Date: 12/06/2011 07:00 PM => End Date: 01/03/2012 02:00 PM * This was the cause for confusion on my side and how many others out there? I and probably many others made the assumption the times used was in PST and planned accordingly. I would have had all mine done, in the end only missed 1 quest each for 11 characters and 2 quests for the 1 character *Understand that I'm saying the below, wearing my 'new to EQ2 and/or SOE games' hat:a) It should have been clear, like they do with the server farms being brought down for scheduled updates, 'on that day at this time'.b) If you're going to provide a feature like the in-game calendar, let it be at least insync with the advertised dates/times and clear on what the time means. If that end date in the in-game calendar had read 'End Date: 01/03/2012 07:00 AM (PST)', then it would have been clear, no confusion, no mess and no fuss
