That's a lot of new, exciting stuff going on, so naturally we will experience extended downtime to make it all happen. Hang in there!

Important: This is an estimate of our anticipated downtime; please keep an eye on the forums and Facebook for any changes and updates!

All EQII and EQ2X servers will come offline at 12:01 AM PST* on Tuesday, December 6th, to prepare for this massive transition and content update. We anticipate game servers will be back online before 12:00 Noon PST*. Due to the volume of data involved, international servers will experience extended downtime.

In addition, SOE account management and commerce services will be offline in all games during the transition period. Forums may also experience periodic outages. Remember that the EQ2X forums will be locked tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM PST*. We hope you enjoy our new, streamlined look!

Don't miss our "Countdown to Age of Discovery” launch day webcast, beginning at 8:00 AM PST* on Tuesday morning! We'll interview bleary-eyed, hardworking members of the EverQuest II team, provide live status updates - we'll even have some opportunities to win EQII shwag! We'll be on the air until 9:45 AM PST*, so tune in on TwitchTV for the webcast while you wait for the servers to come back online.

Finally, look for a Producer’s Letter from Dave “SmokeJumper” Georgeson, bright and early tomorrow morning, to usher in a new era for EverQuest II!

If you haven't yet bought your Age of Discovery expansion, there's still time to pre-order! Pre-orders end on December 5, 2011 at 11:59 PM PST*. If you pre-order the game, you can lock in special savings and get a unique pre-order item.
I can understand issues with going live, but the lack of status updates is very unprofessional. They could at least put up the new Everquest 2 website with maybe a blurb about ironing out some issues rather than going live and upsetting people with bugs etc. To see an Undergoing Maintenance page is uncomforting; I think I'd rather see a 404 page.

I think the biggest thing is they are switching to F2P on the same day thier expansion comes out plus working on the website. The more stuff they are doing is holding everything up. Probably the biggest thing is they are trying to switch all the toons and accounts to the F2P model.

I have to say that the novelty of Facebook has worn off for me a long time ago. The forums have always been a great source of information and have been promoted as a source of reference with the various threads, etc. However, the FB/Twitter magic has taken over EQII. =p

But you don't have to worry, I won't unfriend you Sony because I don't even use FB.

So...

can we get an official ETA for server time? Please? I'll even consider making a FB account. =p

In the marketplace I see AoD for 3999 SC, but no CE will the CE be available for 8999 SC or not, wouldnt make sense that it wouldnt, but i gotta ask since its not on there.

After 2 almost 3 hour downloads, the first one telling me my launch pad (which was updated to the new one over a week ago) was not working and should I delete it..which I clicked yes, caused me to choose repair/reinstall LP again. Then I try the LP from the directory (I thinki, it's all getting muddled) and it tells me I have no subscription. After another almost 3 hours of the repair/reinstall...it's now almost 9:30 p.m. PST and now I can get to character select...and all servers are locked.

The scary thing is, re downloading it did not creat a new shortcut for Launch Pad and I'm afraid to close it. The lack of updates from Sony is unacceptable.

I try to be a supporter of Sony, even through their idiocy moments, but this is ridiculous. Off for a bubble bath and glass of wine!

Edit: Ok, while I was posting this, we got an update...thank you Jesus! Now for that bubble bath!

What about the halas city festival or the cronomage missions? I had been knocking out one of the cronomage missions each day to get access to all the replicas. I have not been able to log on at all today so does this mean I will have to wait another month and a half to get the cronomage mission I will be missing? I will also be missing a whole day of messing around getting tokens and house items from the city festiival. Ill have to wait 6 months to catch up on that?

Someone messed up bigtime on this expansion. From what I hear its a bunch of features and no overland zones or new dungeons at launch. How can it really be called an expansion? And now launch day is totally messed up locking out everyone all day long. If I was in charge I would reset the servers pre launch get everyone back in game and apologize alot give free station cash game time. Then delay and rework the expansion to include new overland zones raid zones dungeons ect at launch. Make sure everything would launch correctly at launch day ie run extensive tests. I would also figure out who messed up this launch day and depending on the nature of the error or judgement either fire them or give them a swift kick in the butt.

It's a fact that European players are far more likely to get the short end of the stick when it comes to how much downtimes and especially extended downtimes affect their gameplay, as an 8-hour (for the UK) or 9-hour differential means that downtime is far more likely to hit peak playing time for us. Doesn't affect all of us, obviously, but that's the definition of 'peak'. It affects more of us adversely for longer than it affects US players, on average. If there's further delays to the servers being brought back on line today then that is likely to knock out another evening's play for UK/Euro players, but far less likely to affect peak-time weekday play for the US.

But then, that's something that we buy into when we play a game with offices and hardware based on the US West Coast.
