I am going from what I believe is the Station Account launcher to the new one. I go through the install and get to PLAY. When I hit it, I get an "Options definition file filed to load" error. I ran a Validate through the new launcher, and also ran a file scan through the old launcher, and still get this error. Both scans said I was ready to go.

As I can play using the old launcher, I assume this is something hinky with the new one.

Help?

You can start by reinstalling our latest LaunchPad (full version) and I also suggest disabling any firewall/antivirus software and running it as an admin (right-click the game icon and select run as admin)

[EQII] Full Assets

Did you install using the installer listed previously in this thread or did you use the Streaming one? And which one were you using before?

Try patching again through LP4 and see if you're working.

Same "failed to open streaming asset database" error as above after another patch through LP4. I got 2650 MG update done, hit play and up pops the error.

Not being snarky, but if you look up a few responses, you will see that you already advised me of this, and I replied that I had done that. And did it again today. Still the same error.

Any new suggestions?

Just an update- I did get things worked out.

It was the word "streaming" in the error that led me to the fix. I remembered I had at one point downloaded EQ2X, which used the streaming system. I went in and did a search, deleted every file EQ related, and did a fresh install. It seems to have worked.

Perhaps this might help someone else with a similar issue.

You can re-install the LaunchPad into an existing game installation without having to first delete all of the game files. This will allow you to get back into the game much faster.

This "repair" function only updates the LaunchPad-specific files, especially the LaunchPad.ini file which controls its behavior.

Note: If you switch between streaming and full download versions, you may end up with 2 copies of game assets which is a significant increase in hard disk usage. The full download assets are stored in the "paks" directory. Streaming assets are stored in .vdb files within the "assetcache" directory.

-dan

I had the same issues as above and tried all the sollutions except for uninstalling and re-installing. I even tried re-installing the launcher in the game folder both as a full install and as a repair/install and that didn't work. The way I got it to work was deleting the assetcache folder and it worked fine from there....Hope this helps someone b4 they send exploding hot dogs to sony hahah.

Assetcache is the streaming LaunchPad's game files, all of them.

I think it was just confused cuz it thought i was running a full launcher on a streaming game. Whatever the reason..that's what happened with mine. Oh just to be clear...for some reason I had both a paks forlder AND the assetcache folder so that's probably why it didn't have to install anything after I deleted the assetcache folder.
