In a thread about how AOD Mercs will work, I asked asked a question if PVP was enabled on beta and recieved a response from a player that "Yeah, they should totally hose up the beta server by making it PvP just to test a game style used by less than 5 percent of the player base. That totally makes sense."

I've been trying to be mum and keep an open mind on what this xpac will give us. I've even pre-ordred two xpacs. However, I have noticed what seems to be an ongoing issue with those on non PVP servers being passive aggressive. Some don't seem to care that we are also paying for the same game. We've slogged and fought our way from level 1 to 90 on a server where no one is safe. We can't leave our safe zones without looking over our shoulders. They don't know how going into exile to change your class makes you PVP enabled to everyone! They don't need PVP gear at level 10 in the open world to they? Some of them don't even know you can't level lock at level 10 on a PVP server! Some of these folks have homes in both Freeport and Qeynos and the like without knowing what real opposing faction would be like in those zones.

We've even put up with them whining about how they want to do "Battlegrounds" with their safe zone points and no real open world threat. They helped whine their way to seperate PVP and PVE gear stats which affected our server. SOE even gave them the easy button with "Casual PVP" with battlegrouds.

Again I've been trying to be mum with an open mind but honestly I just have to say I am totally blown away about the attempt by someone to belittle my paying account and support of this game by saying my concerns basically don't count.

Has the PVP server become that much of a burden for SOE? I have been wondering more and more lately why I bother to go through the trouble on a PVP server these days. Since my bf plays on the PVP server, I feel obliged to not change servers but honestly it's just a mindless grind to make level 90/300 and soon to be 90/320 and PVP gear and PVE gear to even survive and have any fun anymore. And to be insulted that we weren't considered for test for any meaningful time due to the inconvenience is just another smack in the face. SOE don't have a PVP server if you're not going to support it!

I am over it personally. The game is too instanced to really support a PVP style anymore.

The gear seperation.. the instanced zones.. DPS out of hand.. ect.. it is time to flip the switch and make us Blue.. the PVP I loved is gone. Sad thing is the only reason I ever came back to EQ2 was for the PVP

EQ2 has PvP? This is news to me!

Anyway bluebies will always hate PvPers for the nerfs we supposedly cause and PvPers will always hate PvEers for not being "hardcore". I've heard this argument so much that I don't even care what anyone thinks anymore. All I know is PvP is dead in this game, Nagafen is way past its prime. I don't expect much from this expansion for us other than people abusing mercs somehow to "own" solo undergeared players at quest hubs.

PvP and proper open world gameplay in general died when endgame stuff was moved 100% into instances .. so basically with TSO the game as we knew it died and got replaced by it's evil twin brother. Gear being more important than skill does not help either but then that's the nature of the mmo-grind.

When SF broke resists and forced combat, it took SOE ~56 days to apply a fix. When DoV pve gear broke pvp again, it took SOE ~66 days to apply a band-aid.

Surprisingly, this practice of leaving pvp bugs in-game for significant lengths of time appears to do quite a bit of damage to the population of the pvp game, because for some reason many subscribers tend to grow tired of waiting months for a reasonable balance to be restored and they instead move on to other things.

Now we have AoD & GU that has also upset pvp balance by skewing pvp risk towards one faction... and so far SOE has responded on Test by removing FP guards to aggravate Freeport risk instead of restoring overall balance by either fixing immunity or matching it in Qeynos. So how long will we have to wait this time before Nagafen gets pvp balance restored? How many players are going to give up instead of waiting?SF = ~56 daysDoV = ~66 daysAoD = ~??? days

We are smart enough to avoid PVP until we have overwhelming advantages, so we're entitled to automatically win PVP!"

bahahaha

On a serious note though, that's what peeved me off most about when DoV first came out. Raid gear was the SHIZ-NIZZ in PVP, and if you were wearing any PVP gear (to like...fight pvp and stuff) you would easily get owned by any raider. Total BS in my opinion.
