We've seen several players from the past poking around various forums asking how exactly they can get back into the game once it goes Free-to-Play. While many questions are addressed in SOE's official F2P FAQ, it simply doesn't help with every situation out there and sometimes the answers may not be clear. We took the time to compile our own FAQ that we hope will help with a clearer understanding of the many concerns out there. The answers are compiled from a mix of information from SOE's F2P FAQ, developer responses on the forums and personal knowledge of how the current F2P service (EQII Extended) works.Continue over to ZAM for our Returning Player Free-to-Play FAQ!

That was actually very helpful.. thanks for the info, Cyliena ! But, what about people who have already paid for each and every expansion as it became available. Would they be expected to pay again to unlock the races in the event they were to downgrade their accounts?

I mean I see you included info about the Freeblood race.. which will remain unlocked to those who bought DoV. But what about, for example, races like Fae/Arasai(EoF) and Sarnak(RoK); would accounts that purchased this expansions be flagged as such and the races left unlocked as well?

I'm pretty sure there are some players out there still wondering about that.. hehe..

You had to meet other conditions first (playing for Dec, Jan, Feb before DOV was released and getting the other "winter rewards' THEN buying DOV before Dec 31 of this year). If you did all that then you got freebloods and the snow wolf mount. If you didn't, then buying DOV just gets you DOV.

Yes, you're correct.. hehe.. sorry if that caused any confusion.. should've phrased it better . But yes.. those requirements were needed to unlock Freeblood race. Thanks for pointing them out, Finora.

I know that's a hot topic and really I don't know how I feel about it.

Since they're giving everyone through SF for free then it would be difficult to differentiate between the people who had actually paid for EoF and those who got it just for signing up, I'd imagine. I don't think it's a slight to those who did buy those expansions, likely just a fact of there was no flag placed on accounts saying "fae unlocked" or "sarnak unlocked" like there is for Freeblood, ya know? Okay, rambling now.

Personally, if I were to drop to Silver I'd only be able to play my main (human swashbuckler) without having to get unlocks. Not that I'm planning on downgrading, but that'd be 8 chars to work out.

For people who really don't want a monthly fee though those one-time unlocks may very well be worth it. If they added bank unlockers to the Marketplace that'd really sweeten it, though it would also be less incentive for subscribing.

I don't see how that would be any different than granting +90 days to account age.

I wished they had left the 3 day passport available. I was happy playing my 2nd account for 3 days a month with all the perks. I have lost that now this kind of sucks for me but everyone else is happy so I guess that's all that matters
