NOTE: CHANGED THE TITLE FROM... New Launcher is reinstalling entire Test Server. NEW PROBLEM: New Launcher wont launch game

I already have test server on my computer. A few minutes ago, I updated the files via station launcher so everything is fresh & current. The new launcher is reinstalling the entire game. I do not want the testserver in a new location. Where it is now is where I want it to stay.

The new launcher does not have an option to choose where to install the game. Instead, it only opens the folder. Pls. help. ty.

The Station Launcher test setup may differ from our current offering in LP4. SL hasn't received support in quite some time so I wouldn't know for certain.

If the file structure is the exact same you may be able to move your test server data to the new folder to avoid that re-downloading. If it differs enough you won't be able to work around having to re-download all of the assets and it will use it's own folder for installation.

what i want to do is pick the folder for the new launcher to put testcopy. (if i do that, i can pick the folder where it is already.) it is not letting me pick folders for either EQ2 or test server. it's picking them and i'm stuck with it.

It will install test under the EQII folder in testserver

Start the patch, stop LP4, move your old test data there, and restart LP4. Should avoid re-downloading all intact files.

but but but but i didn't want to move my test stuff. i have EQ2map updater and it was such a pain to get it to work with test.

isn't that the default for station launcher to install it? that's where my station launcher has it listed.

ALSO: they said that we could chose what folder to install the game. it didn't let me choose and there's no option to pick a different folder. am i missing it or did they forget to add that?

thanks.

i wasn't prompted. i used the most recent EQ2 launcher (prior to this one) and it did not give me an option on where to install it. it auto-converted and that was the end.

when i click to open game directory, it opens this folder: ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

before i launched the EQ2 launcher, i did launch station launcher bc i did not realize station was not auto updating. station was probably open when i launched the EQ2 launcher.

i'd like to see/find an option to choose where to download the game. that aside, the game won't launch so i guess it doesnt really matter . it claims that my graphics card is not good enough but it was more than enough when i bought this computer.

thankfully, station launcher still works but i've only got 5 days left till it wont work.

Launching LP3 and Installing LP3 (when you run the EQ2_setup.exe file) are a bit different and you will be presented with 1 or all of those options.

In any case, we do have direct installers for LP4 and Test available. When you run these files you will be presented with these options and can put LP4 wherever you want it.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=509747

Open a support ticket with the DXDIAG/MSINFO for the problematic PC. We'll figure it out

dang it, i knew you were going to ask for that. next, you are going to ask for me to upgrade my graphics card. there's a problem...

i'm not sure how to get you those files and i dont know how to update that graphic card. the last time i did it, either you or a FR tech directed me on what to do. hint, hint (if its not automatic, it doesnt get updated. i'm not sure if it is automatic or not.)

there's more to this story, of course. my issue has been resolved but i'll describe it here, in case it will help someone else.

IDK why it hated my graphics card yesterday . was there an update to LP4 today that would get rid of that bc it went away?

today, i attempted to validate the files and that got hung up. i attempted to reinstall/repair from the new links posted. that failed bc there are some files that could not be written to. LP4 was set to run as an admin so it was not that. installation had to be aborted. i tried to relaunch LP4 and it would not cooperate. i got the RED SCREEN OF DEATH, with the SOE logo in it.

i went back to the good ole reliable station launcher. i validated all of my files from there. i logged into the game. all was well. i logged out and then logged out of station launcher.

i re-reinstalled the LP4. this time when it was unhappy with files, i selected "skip". (they were different files... the first time they were EQ2 files & the second time they were launcher files.) after skipping the launcher files, the permission to run as admin popped up. the launcher began working. it took a few minutes to check all the files and then i was gtg. i logged in and all is well.

btw, does it always say "installing" instead of "checking"? if it does, checking would be better.
