What difference does it make if it is late or not, the only thing that is going to happen when it does get here are that you are going to lose some features, and get a butt ugly UI to launch the game. The probably found a lot of bugs and issues with the "1 day" (lol) beta test of it.

I must be using an old launcher, because mine didn't update. I clicked on the link provided, and it downloaded a new streaming client in a completely different place than my EQ is located at.. I don't want to wait for all of those zones to reload again, and I don't want to wait for EQ to redownload the entire game either. I guess I will wait until the 6th for the update.

edit.. clicking check for updates on the launcher itself claims I am currently using the most recent.. obviously, that isn't true.

I'm a little confused as to why a new launcher was made. It seems all they did to me was change the graphics and make it so that the launcher doesn't auto close when the game launches (which annoys me, there better be a way to disable that). They could have added something new and useful, like they used to have, letting you go straight from the launcher to your character. why did they get rid of this? they had it before, they can put it back.

Useless launcher? Well, that is your opinion. It works fine for me. This game had what... five different launchers? Seems to make perfect sense that they would consolidate. There seems to be a resource issue with the launcher remaining open whilst in game, but it looks as if that is being remedied. In any case, that wasn't a problem for me at least. My system seems to be able to handle the additional load.

The "other folks" I referred to may very well place value upon the new launcher. They may also place value on the new release tomorrow. My point is, there are differing viewpoints and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to rudely insult folks who don't share your opinions. It is also considered poor form to rudely insult the developers who deliver this game to you.

Constructive criticism is a wonderful thing:

http://oregonstate.edu/instruct/com...0/criticism.htm

Emotional Intelligence is another gem:

http://psychology.about.com/od/pers...ionalintell.htm

I see.

Actually it's done by the Platform team, who're also responsible for things like the Web site, the account management system and so on. And Platform handles those things across all games, not just EQ2. So the new launchpad may be a side-effect of adding things that'll be needed for other games, and EQ2 got it not because it was needed for EQ2 but because the Platform team's trying to keep one launchpad across all games instead of maintaining half-a-dozen different launcher programs.
