I have been away from everquest for about 2 years. I recently decided to buy a 3 day subscription to see if I could get back into the game. I have all the updates loaded and everything works up to the point I click on play. I have tried loggin in to didfferent toons and to character select and the game just seems to stop. Launcher screen just disappears. No error messages, black screens or anything. This machine ran the game fine before, I haven't made any changes recenly.
We do not support Windows 2000. Microsoft Support for Windows 2000 ended on July 13, 2010! As such it may be impossible to keep up to date while using Windows 2000. You will need to use Windows XP SP3 or later to receive support for Everquest II.

Might try to scale down every option you can - might need to edit the INI files to do that of course. I know 'not supported OS' wouldn't stop me from trying.. heh

Theres a great deal of updating the system needs. New video drivers, sound drivers, new OS altogether, service packs, reinstall DX9.0c June 2010, etc.

First things first, however. Windows 2000 probably won't work no matter what you do but you are welcome to give it a try.
