View Full Version : Should Flash 11 be OK for Launcher ???

After having to install a new HD, I'm trying to reload EQ2. Downloaded streaming client (which worked OK on prior computer). But in trying to run it, I get an error that seems to be related to Adobe Flash 10.3. My new build uses Flash 11, both as plug-in and as Active X control. Do I need to fall back to Flash 10.3 in order to use the streaming client launcher thingy?

My current running system uses Flash 11.1, but I noticed that the streaming client went ahead and installed Flash 10.3 as well. It doesn't look like it replaced the newer version and everything seems to be working okay. So it should work in theory. What kind of error did you get?

Nope. Apparently my previous download wasn't installed. Removed prior downloads and tried reinstalling latest as per SOE instructions. Got the following error message when trying to install either streaming client or full dowwnload:

Adobe Flash Player 10.3 InstallerThe installation encountered errors:The version of Adobe Flash Player that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit the Player Download Center to obtain the latest, most secure version.

I removed my Flash 11 install and tried to use the Adobe 10.3 .exe file downloaded direct from Adobe -- same message.

I'm stumped at the moment. I've installed streaming and regular clients on my WinXP laptop and Win7 desktop without getting any errors or messages like that. I just don't know what might be different with your setup.

I have noticed that the streaming client installer always installs 10.3 even if it's already installed. It's like it doesn't even check first.

I have the exact same problem since 11/18/11 doing a new install. Tried a fresh copy of XP and a fresh copy of Win 7. I even tried copying over the entire Sony folder from currently working install. Launcher starts up then quits. It's something with the launchpad on new installs I think.

I'm running the latest version of flash 11.1.102.55. Win XPSP3, logged in as an administrator. The launchpad starts, I see the SOE logo, then it closes. In the launchpad.log I get **** Starting at Sun Nov 20 17:34:02 2011 with version 3.0.0.300 *****Warning: ActionDLL failed to load

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing seems to work.

Sounds like Launchpad is OK with Flash other than 10.3 if you update Flash later, but insists on using 10.3 on Install.

And yes, this happens reardless of whether I install as Admin or other user.

I am using Win XP SP3, a new install of Win on a new HD, and EQ2 is one of the first ten programs I tried to install.

Not sure what happened.

I went through my hardware list and updated every driver, allowing them to search the web if desired.

Installed Flash version 11.1 for both Active X and add-ons.

Right-clicked the EQ2 setup icon and made sure I was installing as Admin. (Pretty sure I had logged in as Admin in prior tries, but ...)

It tried to install Flash 10.3 but accepted Quit after informing me that there was a newer Flash version.

Worked fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, TSR-JoshuaM.

I'm again in the same boat as Lutefisk. Those work around links didn't work for me so I thought what the hey, give it another shot. Ran the same streaming installer that I already had downloaded again, this time magically it worked. So whatever you guys did to fix it - thank you.
