Ok, received a confirmation this morning that Age of Discovery will not include the Destiny of Velious expansion in it as a roll up which has been standard operating procedure since EoF.

As a returning player and one who was anticipating waiting on the xpac to reactivate alt accounts to roll them up I am now faced with a purchase of 10 xpacs rather than 5.

So the questions -

Can you play AoD without DoV?

If so, what breaks in gameplay can we expect if DoV is not installed?

Is the new standard operating procedure for EQ2 expansions going to be each xpac is sold separately now?

How long after an xpac has gone cold can we expect it to roll up into the Free Included content with the subscriptions as Sentinels Fate is now?

Many thanks in advance for the clarification. The decisions on reactivating accounts and expansion purchases just got more difficult for those returning and those with multiple accounts so good information will be helpful.

Since they intend to keep releasing content attached to the DoV expansion through 2013, it'll be at least that long before DoV is included in a future expansion pack.

Another question comes to mind concerning AoD regarding Dungeon Designer -

Is AoD going to be a required expansion in order to run player made dungeons or only to build them?

Pretty much my opinion is, if you ask yourself "Will AoD be required for *insert thing here*?" the answer will be yes.

Why? Because they can make it like that, and have every interest in forcing as many people to buy this game update as possible.

I do find it odd that future content updates are dependent on an xpac that will be 1 behind now. Would seem logical the content updates would be dependent on the latest expac, not that one before it. This is why I wonder about game breaks by having one and not the other.
