This expansion is selling power. The reason I say that is because of the 50 extra aa's. Anyone with those extra aa's "should" be more powerful then someone without those aa's. It's a unfair boost in power compared to those who choose not to get the expansion.

I'm sure people will say that like any other expansion if you don't buy it, you get left behind. The difference with this expansion is that it's advertised as optional. So we have a option to let other people have a unfair advantage over us? I havn't even mentioned reforging.

The other big problem this brings up is when sony releases the next part of Valious who will it be balenced to? So it will either be too easy for those with AoD or too hard for those without it. Even though we all bought DoV the experiences we will have with it going forward will be greatly colored by this "optional" expansion.

I know that even with reforging and the extra aa that things won't be too unbalenced, but the point still stands that people are paying for power, for an expansion that is suppose to be optional.

(sorry if this came off a bit whinie, but considering this expansion came out of nowhere, the chance of another expansion coming out before Velious is finished is likely. So this issue might get worse)

Every expansion is optional. If you only get the base game, you are missing out on possibly heroic AA tab, etc. If you don't plan on being in DoV then you don't need AoD stuff. Other posts point out the extra amount of AA points will not be useful to some people.

Have the actual number of AA being increased been announced? all I saw on the pre-order/announcement was that more aa's past 300, not an actual number.

The release of a new expansion used to mean there would be zones people would be left out of if they didn't pay extra money. This caused a lot of problems for those that enjoyed raiding. That's all gone now, which should only serve to bring back more people. I don't see them balancing things to be so difficult for those that don't have AoD. Yes, you are paying for power, but it's not power you're going to need right away, especially if you're only starting out or just play casually.

That's the point. Each expansion before increased with AAs and/or the level cap. Sure there's no new content, but we'll get more regardless if you buy the expansion pack or not.

A little off-topic, I know but...

I pre-ordered the CE and would dearly love to order it for a friend who has not got DoV. The only issue I have with this is wanting to know if DoV is included in the deal. Nary an answer from a red name on any other requests for clarity on this issue.

DoV and AoD are separate, this was answered in the webcast.

Not sure what class you play. But for me, 350 AAs is not a significant improvement over 300.

Although this makes (a huge) financial sense to SoE, I see it as a mistake. This is one of the things I respected SoE for, including all other expansions with the present one. It's somewhat sad to see them climbing on WoW's greedy bandwagon with this one. I would suggest that they either drop the price of both, or include one with the other, or a lot of players will be more than just a little disenchanted. Just my .005c worth.

I personally have no issues or problems with the recent announcement that all servers will be converting to Free to Play.

I do however have a HUGE problem with SoE charging $40 for the upcoming "expansion". Coming at christmastime as it is, and with the greatly decreased amount of features that are being offered, I just can't see spending that much of my hard earned money on it. To me, it simply isn't worth it. I will probably buy it some time next year once the price begins to come down. It's very disappointing since I had already bought a character slot for a beastlord during a somewhat recent double SC sale. I guess it will just go unused for a while.

To get access to the EoF (subclass) tree you needed to buy the Echoes of Faydwer expansion. Didn't own it? You couldn't put AAs in that tree. In fact I think it was technically possible to have access to the subclass tree but not the class (KoS) tree if you owned Echoes of Faydwer but hadn't bought Kingdom of Sky.

Yes, tangles like that were one of the motivations for SOE to start going to all-in-one expansions.

WHAT power?

Any more AAs I spent in my trees will be worthless, because I won't get enough from those extra 20-50 AA, because my class/subclass/shadow trees suck.

I have 300, 1 more won't make me anymore powerful.

They need to make a huge AA Revamp, then open the class and subclass trees to 125 instead of 100.
