Hi y'all,

this all started when I saw EQ2 offered an ftp - being an EQ 1 & 2 player from way back, I jumped on it. For some reason, once I log into Launchpad, when it opens into the game booting up, my mouse is no longer available. I can alt+enter, alt+tab, whatever - I can see my mouse up top left but if it won't let me move it. It'll jerk for a second in the direction I want it to go, then pops right back up to the top left. That means I can't do anything other than play while playing. I'm always having to look up quests - I'm one who gets frustrated easily and doesn't like it. lol, straight to the help for me. Cant do it now though. When I bring up in-game web it works fine. But if I pull up the in-game browser again after clicking it off, it'll crash the game. Okay, so I thought all of this might have something to do with the Free to play. Decided what the heck, make a new account - you know you want to!!

Made a new, paid account. Same issues. I can't use the mouse, or the browser in game, and it seems that my modem is randomly going offline all the dang time. It has never done that before. I've just switched over to run the tracert & ping for you but typing the ipconfig line comes back with "access denied" for some dang reason.

P.S. this is a brand new computer with the Pentium 5 and all up to date, so I dont think it's anything with the system itself. Good grief, it better not be anyway!

Please help ...

Thank you!Kyn

I would recommend updating all of your system drivers such as video/sound card/and Windows service packs + updates.

You may also need the following update as well.

Please download and run the file linked in the article below. This is a self-extracting executable file that will prompt you to select a folder for extraction. Create a folder on your desktop and direct it to that folder. Once complete, open that folder and run the DXSETUP file to start the actual update itself.

[DX9] June 2010

If this does not help, please follow the instructions in my signature link on how to create a DXDIAG file. Post the contents in a response here, but just the top 3 sections that cover system/display/sound device.

Joshua, thank you for trying to help. I'm back for the next step though, the only update that was needed was one for my mouse, everything else was fine. Even the DirectX link you gave me wouldn't load, said the one on my computer was newer - or something like that.
I love this game, but dadgum this connection stuff is giving me a headache! It's gotten real bad. Seems like everytime I log off of EQ it knocks my modem offline, to where I have to unplug it for it to reset. On top of that, it's now in the habit of hanging on "Updating Environment Map". Seems like everything else it just whizzes right past no problem, but about half the time it hangs there, and I have to control/alt/del to shut it down. Help?!

~Kyn
