For several days now i get disconnected several times a day. Always same pattern, game non responsive while ping goes steadily up to 3000 when i get kicked out. From non-responsive to kick out it takes about 15-20secs.

Today is worse than usual, keep getting this problem at short intervals.

It has been over a week now, i get disconnected every single day at least once, even when my play sessions are 3hrs and less.

I have the same connection i always had, nothing changed, wired and router. Was not disconnecting before.

It doesnt happen often, roughly once every 1-2 hrs on average, but it is annoying when it happens during fights or in instances that reset upon exit.

After the disconnect i can log back in right away no problem, my ping stays nicely between 90-130 all the time until it randomly decides to go up steadily to 3k and dc.

There have been severe lag issues on Splitpaw for our guild (about 24/30 from different countries and regions in Europe) during this week, and talk on channels suggest it's more widespread.

Latency and packets per second seem normal (latency around 120, bps around 15-20k) during the spikes.

For some, the lag appears in spikes, for some it's constant. A typical issue is for all spells/abilities to take from 1 up to 5 seconds to cast after using the spell. The abilities then fire in a quick sequence (so it's not quite similar to the old server lag I remember). Even during this the latency (as shown on the connection window) stays normal, while the packets being sent might spike a little.

The client itself does not seem to be freezing as I would remember experiencing graphics or CPU lag, it just seems like packets are not going through between the client and the server. My uplink outside the game seems to work steadily as well, according to standard web-based/sendfile tests.

My tracert / ping to splitpaw.everquest2.com has also seemed to be fine (about 40ms latency with no packet loss).

Splitpaw now seems to be down, don't know if that's related.

Im on Permafrost. The disconnects keep happening every 2 hrs or so, right now it started happening every 10 min in Majdul. Im fed up, logging off for the day.

We do apologize for all the recent issues, we're working on everything that has been reported and I'll provide updates as they come to me.

A quick update from our end:

- Splitpaw seemed fine yesterday after the server went down (don't know if it was a reboot or crash, but everyone was kicked and server was locked for a while).- It was even worse today in several raid zones (bad in Temple, worse in Sullon's), but lag was also appearing even in my small house with a total of 5 items in it.- I know at least 3 guilds canceled their raids today because of it.- It seems most BT users in England, and a few users outside (Finland, Romania) are not experiencing this issue, while the rest are. I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence, though, but am reporting what I see in case it's helpful.

I talked with another person on the server from a different guild and it didn't seem like it's country- or region-related, so more likely to be a random coincidence for us. The curious thing is still that some people aren't suffering from lag at all.

Here's my tracert and pingpath statistics for completeness, my apologies that parts of it are in Finnish.

seurataan reitti is„nt„„n amseq2-03-01.everquest2.com [195.33.139.96]enint„„n 30 siirr„nt„v„lill„: 1 14 ms 24 ms 2 ms UNKNOWN.pp.htv.fi [89.27.114.1] 2 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms UNKNOWN.pp.htv.fi [213.243.154.193] 3 <1 ms 1 ms <1 ms hel2-tr1.dnaip.fi [217.78.199.38] 4 <1 ms 1 ms 1 ms hel1-tr2.dnaip.fi [62.78.107.8] 5 <1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 212.73.248.5 6 27 ms 27 ms 27 ms ae-14-14.ebr2.Berlin1.Level3.net [4.69.148.170] 7 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms ae-3-3.ebr2.Dusseldorf1.Level3.net [4.69.133.146] 8 41 ms 41 ms 41 ms ae-48-48.ebr1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.143.209] 9 41 ms 41 ms 45 ms ae-59-114.csw1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.153.198] 10 41 ms 41 ms 41 ms ae-12-51.car2.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.139.131] 11 46 ms 46 ms 45 ms vl177.amsixsw-2.sonyonline.net [213.244.164.58] 12 46 ms 46 ms 46 ms 195.33.139.96 Seuranta suoritettu.Seurataan reitti is„nt„„n amseq2-03-01.everquest2.com [195.33.139.96]enint„„n 30 siirr„nt„v„lill„: 0 hkorpela-PC.pp.htv.fi [89.27.115.144] 1 UNKNOWN.pp.htv.fi [89.27.114.1] 2 UNKNOWN.pp.htv.fi [213.243.154.193] 3 hel2-tr1.dnaip.fi [217.78.199.38] 4 hel1-tr2.dnaip.fi [62.78.107.8] 5 212.73.248.5 6 ae-14-14.ebr2.Berlin1.Level3.net [4.69.148.170] 7 ae-3-3.ebr2.Dusseldorf1.Level3.net [4.69.133.146] 8 ae-48-48.ebr1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.143.209] 9 ae-59-114.csw1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.153.198] 10 ae-12-51.car2.Amsterdam1.Level3.net [4.69.139.131] 11 vl177.amsixsw-2.sonyonline.net [213.244.164.58] 12 195.33.139.96 Lasketaan 300 sekunnin tietoja...
In the hope it might help you track down the problem, here are my tracert results. I'm one of the lucky ones (UK - BTInternet) that isn't experiencing a problem with lag. However it's obvious the majority of players on Splitpaw ARE experiencing serious issues.

Interesting that my penultimate hop (14) is to a Sony based IP in amsterdam but it isn't the final Splitpaw IP and that isn't shown in Arynai's tracert.
As far as I can see, there is no common denominator for the routes (3-4 last hops) that only the lagged people would see and that people not experiencing lag would not.

To describe the lag further, I can typically see several slow casting spells being cast within 0.1s, and then getting no feedback for several seconds. The response time also varies a lot even during the same fight, from minimal to up to 6-10s, with the average being perhaps around 2 seconds.

In logs, this appears as some seconds only having ~20 entry lines mid-fight in a full raid, and others having over 400. (Looking back to fights without lag, the exact same encounter would have 200-400 entry lines for each second for the same raid force.)

I'll also reiterate that after the server reboot/crash on Sunday evening (21.38-00.01 London time), I had no lag that night for the next 3 hours.

We'll leave the investigation to the server side game teams. I'll go ahead and lock this up. I can't do anything with this information directly so please keep it in support tickets.
