<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">I am looking forward to the newest EQ II expansion, Age of Discovery, to be released.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In preperation for it, I wanted to make sure that I had enough hard drive space.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I only have 9GB of space on a 110GB hard drive.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thinking that I should make some more room on the drive, I opened the “Add or Remove Programs” utility for windows and found the following:</span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> <span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"> <img src="C:Documents and SettingsMike DownsMy DocumentsUploaded111102 to SOEEQIIPrograms.jpg" /></span></span></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">Should the game be using 79.56GB of hard drive space?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If not, what can I do to reduce the amount of space it is currently using?</span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">In the past, with each new expansion, I have bought the box version and installed it from that disk.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thinking that it would use the same directory and over write the old files and load the new ones.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now, I’m not sure that is what happened.</span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">Anyway, if you could advise me on what to do to take care of this problem, I would much appriecate it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Even if the solution is to buy a bigger hard drive <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" /></span></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">Thanks</span></p>
<p>Without logs, screenshots, in-game video recordings, my non-streaming client install w/ all the optional content (adventure packs, voice-overs, etc) takes less than 14GB. Using Test will double that size.</p><p>You can probably save some space by backing up your log files, and screenshots and storing them elsewhere, but 80GB of space would make me believe either you have a large in-game video capture, or add-and-remove programs just isn't reporting the size correctly.</p>

<p>Are you multiboxing by chance? Multiboxing with our Streaming LaunchPad will cause a 2nd set of asset_cache files to be downloaded, thus potentially doubling the size of the folder. Each additional client run simultaneously could create additional asset_cache files.</p>

<p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #99ccff; font-size: 9pt;">Sry it took me so long to get back, been a busy week.</span></p><p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #99ccff; font-size: 9pt;">Oink - I only have about 81MB of screen shots and I don't have a video capture utility/program. So, that's not it but thank you for the suggestions.</span></p><p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #99ccff; font-size: 9pt;"> </span></p><p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9pt;"><span style="color: #99ccff;">Joshua - I do mulit-box. I have two accounts that I play on this computer. But even if ALL of the files were duplicated, according to Oink, I would have around 28GB of space used.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></span></p><p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #99ccff; font-size: 9pt;">Some more info:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I did the original beta for the launch of EQ II when it was first released.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t remember doing any since then.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have a directory/folder for test and one for Legends Of Norrath.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The directory that seems to have the largest amount of files by space is the music folder. (sorry, haven’t tried to add up all of the disk space that holds).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Oh, and the cache folder for Everquest II only has about 8.7MB in it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The test directory cache has about 38MB.</span></p><p style="margin-left: 6pt; margin-right: 6pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #99ccff; font-size: 9pt;"> </span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Is there anything else that you would like to know or need me to do?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">Age of Discovery is released, should I just start over?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Uninstall all of my EQ II files and load the new game?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If I do that, are there any files that I need to keep?</span></span></p>

<p>You can backup the bulk of the game files themselves and just re-install the LP fresh again.</p><p>The asset_cache and/or PAKS folder contain all the game files. You should also backup your ui settings files as well.</p><p><p>Asset_Cache - contains streaming LaunchPad game files, look for duplicates, multiboxing wtih this client will download a new set of asset_cache files for each instance you run simultaneously</p><p>PAKS - contains the standard non-streaming game files. This would exist in all previous patch methods and our current Full download version</p><p>Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini</p></p>

If the PAKS folder is only 11.6GB, that sounds about right and working as intended. Which folder has the other 60+GB of data in it?</p>

<p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">Joshua,</span></p><p><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="color: #99ccff;">I want to thank you again for trying to help me out with this. Just a fast note to bring you up-to-date on my hard drive issue.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">I decided to buy a new 500GB HD for my computer. I took it to Best Buy and had the Geek Squad Image/Clone my old drive onto the new one. I get the computer back on the 2nd of December. So, I should have more than enough room now for the new expansion.</span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">I only have one question now (that you may or may not be able to answer for me). If I start up EQ II and it doesn't run or run correctly, I may need to delete the game from my new HD and reinstall it. So...</span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">1. To have the full game as I do new (I bought the origainal game and every expansion since then), I can install the retail version of "Destiny of Velious" and that will do it for my right? I will have the full game again. Or do I need to intall any of the other expansions?</span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">2. Do I need to save any of the files for the new install?</span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">3. Will I still have credit for the collector editions that I have bought?</span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">OK, I guess that was three questions <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #99ccff; font-size: x-small;">Thanks again for everything.</span></p>

<p>Everything your account is entitled to is completely separate from your installation so you have nothing to worry about there.</p><p>You may want to save your UI files so you dont have to re-do your setup. Those are located in your EQII game folder and read servername_charactername_eq2_uisettings.xml</p><p>And finally, if you need to reinstall, we have launched LP4. Your retail installations may not work after 12/6 so go ahead and download our latest LaunchPad 4 here, <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=509747">http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=509747</a></p>
