So, I haven't done the Ry'Gorr quests in Velious yet, but I heard it gives a lot of orc lore and stuff. Anyone care to share?

Well, as always, someone is controlling them This time the giants use them as slave workers to mine Velium. The RyGorr are the smarter part of the orcs and freed themselves from giant slavery. They think the situation is against their clans honor. Their chief is stubborn and wants to stick to the giants, but his officers want to get rid of him. Its you job to assassinate him. Those are the friendly faction, imho the only friendly orc on Norrath. Players are able to help them to establish a camp outside their little fortress and do quests for them to gain faction.

a little more elaboration is that the shaman in the fort have gotten visions from thier patron deity, Sullon. They know the Zek kids have been imprisoned, they get the general idea of thier intended fate, and thier not pleased with it. the chief doesn't believe them...and yes the giants have been running roughshod over them, taking thier supplies for the glory of Zek, using them as forced labor and cannon fodder.

they've tried telling the chief all this, and he's ignored them. so they send you to deal with it, actually not assassinate him but try to convince him of the truth. it's the chief that gets violent. and when you give him the boot, the rygorr in the fort thank you and won't be aggressive to you. the ones beyond the fort are still very much part of the Zek war machine, and probably have no idea what goes on in the fort.

the recent update is that some of the Thrael'gorr....the ones that have really been put to the giant's boots in the wakening land area, and inside Kael...have escaped with the help of your Rygorr allies. you help them establish a camp up in the mountains, and hide it from the Zek army so they can use it and the rygorr fort like a norrathian underground railroad system to get other Thrael'gorr out from under Rallos' boot.

We learn that they Rygorr/Thrael'gorr are followers of Sullon Zek, that they feel a kinship for and are willing to aid the Rageborne clan of barbarians, and that they are used by the giants in a brutal fashion. the giants have no problems taking thier needed supplies for themselves, they use them as forced labor with the provision that if you disobey you are to be executed as a traitor to Zek. lots of push on the idea of the Giants know the will of Zek, and everything they do is for the greater glory of Zek.
