EQ2x vs EQ2 for new player

<p>I bought the game a year or so ago, and stopped after a few weeks of playing, and this was when EQ2x was allready available, I have no idea why I did that. I'd like to run the older content with content appropriate gear.I never find anyone when I am playing EQ2 on the EU servers, everyone seems to be 75+. Is there any point staying with EQ2 ?</p><p>Saying that I assume everyone skips all the low level group content on EQ2x as well ? </p>

<p>Considering that EQ2x is free why don't you make a toon there and see if it appeals to you?   I haven't played there as I prefer the subscription model on live but you've basically got nothing to lose by giving it a try.</p>

Is there any point staying with EQ2 ?</p><p>Saying that I assume everyone skips all the low level group content on EQ2x as well ? </p></blockquote><p>No, not too many players on EQ2x skip the lower level content, or any content really.  It's a much younger server than live, and has tons of players at all levels on it.  Also, it's international, so it's hopping in every time zone really.  That's why so many live players have copied toons there, and why so many returning players have gone there instead.  Plus, it has the bronze and silver plan options which live does not, where you can still play the game (in a more restricted fashion of course) if you stop paying a sub.</p><p>Use your same login for Extended that you use for live, and the box that you bought will flag for both.  Extended is its own launcher, though; it's the same game, albeit with a slightly bigger cash shop (most of the stuff-- statted items, potions, etc. are identical).</p><p>Here's the full download link for Extended:  <a href="http://launch.soe.com/installer/EQ2X_Full_setup.exe">http://launch.soe.com/installer/EQ2..._Full_setup.exe</a></p><p>Don't bother with the streaming download, it's buggy as heck.  Use the full download I linked you.</p><p>It's a nice community, just like here (okay, except for Nagafen, lol), it's just there are a lot more people there, especially sub-90.  Lots of 90s too, but I suspect a number of those are live copies.</p>

<p>Eq2X is the better choice for new players because of all the low level activity. Eq2 live servers are very top heavy so you won't find many players your level until you hit end game.</p>

<p>It comes down to whether you prefer knowing how much the game will cost you in the future, and getting all races, classes and services for that price, or whether you prefer making your payments in miniscule instalments every time you want to do something.</p><p>As for playing with others on the live servers, yes of course most people are past 75, the game is old. There are, however, plenty of guilds where people have loads of characters of all levels and are more than happy to hunt lower-level areas. Grouping in places like Crushbone, Nektulos and the Drafling Tower is still fun, and there are thousands of solo quests when you're online at odd times or for short periods.</p>

And if he/she pays for a live sub and copies a live toon over to Extended, that toon will be considered gold as long as the live sub stays active, even if the Extended account itself is Silver or Bronze.</p><p>For me, All-Access is the best way, but I wanted to include all the options for the OP.</p>
