I turned off acceleration in my browser after the last thread I made about this and it fixed the problem... until you guys patched a couple days ago. Now my graphics card is doing the same thing. Lockups, stuttering, outright crashing and recovering.. only when firefox and eq2 are running at the same time.

I'm still unsure as to what the problem is, but the problem seems to go back and forth each time one of the two programs updates. I reinstalled my graphics driver the last time, and that fixed it, but it doesn't solve the root cause. Either one of the two is corrupting my driver, the two programs don't like each other, or something else equally dumb.

It never started doing till till sometime around GU 60 or 61. Fix it... then FF7 comes out. Fix it again, then you guys patched in something a few days ago or the end of last week.. and its doing it again.

I can resend the data I sent before, get a new batch or whatever, but I must ask that a TSR that requests the info gets it and deals with it, because the last two times my ticket was answered by someone different than who requested the files.

I'd really rather not have to keep everything closed when I play the game. I've been able to play with a browser open for the past 6 years. :/

There must be another contributing factor that isn't revealing itself within your system and we just gotta pinpoint it.

Anyone else dealing with it means I have to explain the entire thing mulitple times because they're not seeing what I've already told you. That makes it more tedious on both ends.

But yeah, it's doing it again. And it only starts back up after one of the two programs updates. I never had this problem before GU 60. I didn't have this problem playing in SF either. Same machine, computer's about a year and a half old now.

I'm not entirely sure what else I could possibly give you to pinpoint it either. I run three programs when I play the game. The only thing that fixes it entirely... is to shut off firefox. I'm not doing that. I shouldn't have to, nor did I ever have to before.

This is the ONLY instance in which it happens. No other program interacts with either of them in this way. I don't want to switch browsers. IE is a memory hog hole filled junkfest and has been for years. I'd rather not support the Google empire any more than I need to, and Ive never liked Opera. In game browser is also out of the question, as it's never worked right for me and I can't have multiple tabs open of random junk I read between pulls and during random afks -_-

I'd probably quit playing the game sooner than stop using my preferred browser while playing the game. I can do it with every other program. And no, I do not run full screen. Makes tabbing out to look at said browser more difficult.

I, and many other users, are also Firefox users. The symptoms is Firefox is running, issues occur, shut off firefox, issues subside. Other users using the same firefox might not also run in to this issue and can leave Firefox open while they play. So let's start with most obvious first and work up the chain. What plug-ins are active in Firefox? Does the issue persist if you re-start Firefox with no add-ons enabled?

Like most Firefox users.

The issue is sporadic at best and hard to reproduce. It almost always happens when I'm in an instanced zone of some type.. usually a raid zone. Lately it's been in Drunder(Sullon's spire to be precise).

One thing to note is that I use DrumsUI. In this UI there is a setting for "Night Vision". It does something to the graphics settings to make it brighter and easier to see in the dark, and being visually impaired, in some of the darker zones(Nek, Sol Eye, Drunder, Nek Castle, etc) it's required for me to be able to see where I'm going. Most of the time this happens, I have this toggle on. However if I'm not running Firefox.. even with the toggle on.. I do not crash. It happens every couple of days at best, once a day at worst. If I turn firefox off, it stops.

I've tried closing ACT or GuildConnect if I have those open(usually on new fights) and Yahoo Messenger, but nothing has "fixed" it but closing firefox entirely.

These are issues outside of our game client so I'm just pointing out problematic issues that you should address. Again, Firefox 6/7 do not have direct issues with our game software as a great deal of our players use it, myself included, problem free. So the process of identifying what is causing it to fail starts with your specific installation of Firefox and/or Windows itself.

Repair installations does not re-install windows. Beyond that I would not be able to offer as much support with repairing these Windows failures as your service warranty would.

You are aware that the new AVG update included that annoying memory use pop up? I really don't care that my Opera/FF is using 300 MB of memory. So what! I have many tabs open all the freakin time and you AVG don't need to tell me! Doesn't EQ II IGB use FF? Why do you need to have a separate browser open when you can browse inside the game?

My extensive bookmark list won't work in game.

The in game browser afaik used to be based on Netscape, as the errors I got several years ago when I tried to use it were Netscape errors.... and I have never used Netscape. Firefox has a known issue since v4 that causes it to use absurd amounts of memory. It's a common complaint.

To be honest, I generally have 10-15 tabs open at any given time when I read news feed sites, as I open each article in a new tab. I can't do that in the in game browser. I swear that thing is only designed to look up zam or wikia links on, or use as an ACT output method.

That noted, the errors, windows can't tell me what those are. Google can't tell me what those are. I'll try running the repair, but my machine is no longer under warranty it's been over a year.
Ew. I remember major issues with 1.3 :/

At anyrate I reinstalled firefox from scratch, scanned game, memory, ran windows repair. Only other thing I can do is update to a beta driver for my gpu and I *really* don't like beta drivers.. I always end up finding the major major bugs.

I'll let you guys know if it happens again/more so we can maybe think of other stuff to try. The browser team needs to update this ASAP. Using such an old version I would think poses security risks, and I think it is starting to cause crashing in the game when using it. I know for a fact when trying to browse specific YouTube pages that it can't view anyway, it will definintely lock up the game. I just simply went to ZAM to lookup a particular mob and when I clicked on a link about the mob's involvement about a quest, the game locked up/crashed. I had to end the process as it taking forever to end task.
