I just got a new computer and installed the latest version of EQII that I had on cd (Echoes of Faydwer). (I had already purchased and was happily playing in Velious when my old 'puter died.)

Once the program was loaded, I hit my shotcut to download the rest of the update files I was missing. I got to the launcher, was able to log in with no problem, and got to the patcher, which did the usual file scan and seemed to download the updates I needed. However, once I got to "update complete" the "play" button never appeared. Hitting "download" again doesn't help. I've closed the game, turned off the computer, and tried repeatedly to log on again with the same results. The "play" button never appears and if I try to "Click here for character list" it says "no characters found". I have more than one account and tried with each of them with the same results.

I do recall, however, getting a brief notice somewhere when I first tried to log on that said something along the lines of "your my computer stats aren't up to the miniumum requirements needed to run the game" -- or some such. (As you can probably guess, I'm not a computer whiz.)

My basic computer info, according to the manufacturer's PC description (sorry, haven't figured out how to generate a DXDIAG on Windows 7 yet. ) , is:

Computer: Alienware AURORA_R3

Processor CPU_Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz CPU_Manufacturer: GenuineIntel CPU_Caption: Intel64 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7 CPU_Version: CPU_ProcessorId: BFEBFBFF000206A7 CPU_CurrentClockSpeed: 1598MHz CPU_AddressWidth: 64Bits CPU_DataWidth: 64Bits CPU_SocketDesignation: CPU 1 Verified Hardware Device against Order: VARIABLEXYZ Verify Correct Processor Frequency

System Memory

Installed Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB

BIOS Information

BIOS_Manufacturer: Alienware BIOS_Name: BIOS Date: 05/25/11 09:41:30 Ver: 04.06.04 BIOS_Version1: A06 BIOS_Version2: ALWARE - 1072009

Motherboard Information

MB_Manufacturer: Alienware MB_Product: 046MHW MB_SerialNumber: ..CN697021740014.
Please update to our latest LaunchPad for Everquest II linked for you below. I highly recommend the full download version and directing the installer to download/install a fresh copy. The older retail discs are very dated and we've updated our patch methods a few times since they were authored.

[EQII] LaunchPad

It's so small that my password couldn't fit on one line, and after it authorised, there were strange buttons or something down the side, but the labels on them were so fuzzy that I couldn't make out what they were.

It wouldn't have came with our newer iterations and may have already been installed to that particular folder.

The 12gb download doesn't start til you run the launcher so you can install it over your existing folder if you have one to avoid re-downloading files you already have intact.
