I would love to give Sony my money, but....apparently because of your $0 charge policy to verify a credit card, this won't happen. I have been on the phone with my bank and with SOE Billing support for the past hour and half trying to resolve this issue.

I'm trying to update the credit card info on my husband's account. SOE is sending a $0 charge to the CC to verify the card. The bank (and Visa) is denying this charge because it is a $0 amount. I'm being told by the bank there is nothing they can do to allow a $0 charge amount to go through. They've done all they can do to allow a charge from SOE*Commerce to go through, but allowing a $0 charge IS NOT possible. And I'm being told by Sony that they cannot do anything BUT a $0 charge amount to verify a card. Do you see the problem here?

I've called my bank. I've called SOE Billing. Neither one is willing to budge on the zero amount charge.

I cannot use Gamecards all the time. They are not readily available in our area. It's also less convenient to have to always go out every month to find a card.

I'm near to the point of tears over this frustration. Never ever have I had this problem with Sony with my bank or anyone trying to give them my money. And if this issue isn't resolved by the middle of the month, when my sub is due, you'll have lost another account (since I will need to update that CC info as well).

The funny thing about this is my card that works for EQ2 just fine gets rejected by PSN for this very reason.

Keep your eye out for TSR-JoshuaM he is usually around on weekends and if anyone here can resolve it for you he can.

My husband went out late this evening looking for a game card and was able to find one. However, this isn't going to happen every month and my account will still need to have it's CC info upgraded. So whereas we found a temporary workaround, this still isn't resolved.

Thanks for replying, but I have a feeling Sony may need to adjust it's policy in the near future. According to my bank, VISA is no longer allowing $0 charges due to the high rate of fraud associated with $0 charge attempts to see if cards are valid.

I also find it funny the reason all of this was brought about (my having to update the CC info) was because our CC/debit number was stolen and used to rack up a lot of charges. It was also the CC number used on our Sony account. Now, I'm not saying the Sony Hack in May is how our number was stolen to begin with, but it's something that makes you wonder.

So in the end, maybe it's a Good Thing we can no longer use a CC at SOE. Just saying.

Can't find anything stating that the process was discontinued, suspect that the bank that issues just does not have the coding in place to accept and process the type of transaction. Use a Visa card to pay for multiple online gaming subscriptions and have never seen an issue
