Anyone else hate the fact that we can't charm mobs?

Before you mention Coercers, just remember that necros, rangers, wardens, and furies can charm mobs. Oh, and so can troubs but only for 16 seconds - same as the 16-second AA charm we used to have. If that charm didn't require so much wasted AA to get, it would have remained in my spellbook.

I remember the day illies got their charm taken away (replaced by personae). As much as I appreciate my personae, I would love to have a charm back if for no other reason than it adds a new level of options as well as being fun.

Speaking as someone who has a Coercer and an Illy, why would you want a Charm over a permanent pet?

Coercers have PE rather than the Personae and it's a real pita to constantly have to cast it in raids as it dies to a stiff breeze. I know Personae's are the same but at least you can cast it without getting into agrom range of mobs out of combat. We can't use Charm in instances or raids as a lot of scripts require you to kill all, and it's much too likely to break at the worst time.

Levelling up was fun with Charm though, it was always a laugh, but as soon as I got PE I never charmed again (unless soloing some places).

But Charm is now a shadow of what it was, Charmed mobs do a fraction of the damage that they used to or should.

I wish that Sony would look at the Crat class in Anarchy Online for how to deal with a class that charms. The mobs there do the same amount of damage that the uncharmed version does and they can actually have 2 Charmed mobs at a time: one on a long timer and one on a very short one.

Charm helps for pulling as well as for clearing heroic trash mobs.

Charming a creature that is hanging around a bunch of others is a perfect way to pull it without agro.

If you want to get past a doorway with two heroic trash mobs, charm one and send it onto the other. When all is said and done, one mob is dead and the other is partially dead and you get to go through the door quicker.

Not that we need to have it, but it's another option that we should have considering that we're enchanters.

I played the charm kite game with my chanter in EQLive and I much prefer the pet I have now as an illy. We have a lot of other things to contend with and I'd rather not have to worry with managing and maintaining a charmed pet, especially on a raid or HM instance.

However, I would like to see something done to up the survivability of our pets, especially when raiding. The shared stats helped up their DPS but that means nothing if they can't even live through the first AE!
