I recently bought a new computer, primarily so I could upgrade my video and processor so I could actually see the game. I was able to log into EQ2 once, but the next day each time I launch the game, after I hit "play" and it loads, I get an error: "

Failed to init Arial

".

I've looked up this error, and it seems from previous threads (years old now) that it may have something to do with a corrupted Arial font file.

I have downloaded new Arial font files. I have copied them from another computer to the new one. I have deleted them and then reloaded them. I have uninstalled EQ2 and reinstalled it. And each time I reboot. I am at my wits' end on this one.

Can anyone help? Thank you!

You will more than likely need the windows core font package reinstalled. Once reinstalled, don't touch any other application but our LaunchPad first. Please contact our support staff for further assistance.

Where do I find the Windows Core Font Package to reinstall? I've looked all over for something similar, and have even downloaded an Arial package that said it installed but didn't show up in my font list. My new computer didn't come with any disk that said "fonts". I'm at a loss for where to find what I need.

Never mind. I ended up doing a system restore since I couldn't get help with the fonts. A pain, but at least I'm able to play again.
