Is it true that the Test server can only be downloaded via the Streaming client now? I asked Tech support why I couldn't download testeq2.exe via the non-streaming launcher and it was said that you can no longer download it that way; I needed the Streaming client.

I use Station Launcher for both Live and Test. So no, streaming is *not* the only way.

Streaming was the only way I was able to get it to work since I don't have the old launchers after a hard drive wipe.

The original EQ2 TestServer launcher can be downloaded here: http://eq2wire.com/files/TestEQ2.zip

Incidentally, the original EQ2 launcher can be downloaded here:http://eq2wire.com/files/EQ2.zip

If that's not enough to get your computer to start downloading Test, you can try this 200MB download I put together: http://eq2wire.com/files/EQ2TestSer...er-original.zip It's all the exe, dll, vdl, and launcher/patcher files for the original EQ2 Test launcher, excluding any kind of customizations or settings. This is not an official download in any way. You'll want to extract it into your EverQuest 2 folder inside the TestServer folder.

Thanks Feldon!

I have the newest non-streaming launcher. I deleted the "testserver" folder just to double-check and it will not download the base files for the test server.

Also, I'd like to point out that the non-streaming launcher is no longer linked from eq2players.

I use EQ2.exe for live and test, but I'm suppose I'm lucky as I still have my ROK box with discs, so can re install from that if something goes wrong.

You can download our latest LaunchPad here, make sure it is the Streaming version if you intend to use the Test Server.

[EQII] LaunchPad

Does that mean we're being forced to use the streaming client if we want to access Test?

No. As was stated above, that's the only way they support. But all the older patchers can access Test just fine. In fact, unless something has changed very recently, you can't actually get to Test using the newest streaming patcher, it wasn't an option.

I think the only time I was in streaming was during the last beta test and I really didn't notice all that much of a difference.
