There used to be a matrix (I can't find it now though) that indicated Live subscribers automatically got a Gold subscription plan to EQ2X. When I look at my Live account it says I have Bronze access. Which is correct, the old matix or my account data?

An Everquest II subscription does not give you gold membership for Extended.

Thank you for the update.

Apparently this matrix is being bandied about on EQ2X forums.

Characters copied from live to eq2x get gold membership for that character as long as the live membership is maintained.

What the membership matrix is indicating is that you will maintain gold equivalent access for any copied characters from EQII Live, while you maintain an active subscription here, or while maintaining an All Access game pass.

I was quickly getting tired of EQ2 but a friend decided to start on extended. I was planning on at least joining him for a bit which might have eventually lead to two live subs (maybe), or at least an extension of my live sub; but since I would have to live with some pretty dumb restrictions (none of the races or classes I'd consider playing are available without paying for them AGAIN) I think I'll just pass and let just my sub run out.

Having a standard subscription should then give you silver, but it doesn't, you're no better off than someone who's never given SOE a penny.

Your loyalty and purchase history in 1 game has very little to do with any other game. The fact of the matter is EQ2 and EQ2X are entirely separate products. Furthermore, discussing the business direction with these products is well outside of my scope. I'll go ahead and lock this up. There are more appropriate forums outside of support that would best serve concerns such as these.
