I would like some help understanding the update notes for today. Update notes says do not need crit mit to survive many of DOV zones. Does this mean crit mit is not an important pve stat anymore?

Not to be a jerk, but it's pretty straightforward. You need zero crit mit to run any Heroic Tower of Frozen Shadows zone. you need zero crit mit to run any Fortress of Rime (Velks) zone. You need zero crit mit to run the easiest Kael zone (Iceshard Keep) and zero critmit to run the Crystal Caverns heroic zone.

You will need crit mit to run the two harder Kael zones. You will need crit mit to run any Drunder zones. You will need crit mit to run the Elements of War Heroic zone. You will need crit mit for any raiding in DoV.

If you play solo or just run the easier Velks/ToFS zones, you do not need to worry about crit mit so it will be an unimportant stat. If you want to sucessfully progress into harder content it is still an important stat.

Cynically speaking it's really much ado about nothing. If you did even the Othmir questlines technically you had enough to get through most of the zones they changed. If this change was in response to certain people whining because the player base expected a nominal level of crit mit in order to want to group with a person the change is a non-starter, players will find another preceived threshold stat to base group requirements on.

Thanks: I felt dumb asking the question. But didn't see how it was a major change.

This is what happens when they listen to slackers complaining that they do not start with gear good enough to do all heroic zones by default.

Solo and PQ gear already had enough Crit Mit to do all those zones. There was no point in removing the requirement. It would have been smarter to have an emote message when you zone into these dungeons that says "This dungeon is appropriate for players with 80 Crit Mit." since people need a map and diagram with circles and arrows.

"We're dying, we must not have enough Crit Mit!"

No, it's because you don't understand the script, aren't playing your class well, aren't prewarding, aren't tanking the mob in the right place, aren't interrupting, etc.

My crystal ball tells me this was done solely for the purposes of supporting the Dungeon Finder and group make-up mechanics.

I'll further speculate that Drunder and EoW will not be part of the default random dungeon list within said system. The only question will be if PUGs will be allowed access to Drunder and EoW through the Dungeon Finder system. I'm guessing No, Drunder and EoW PUGs will still need to be formed in level chat.
