View Full Version : Some models not appearing at all

For the past couple of gaming sessions, I've been unable to progress in some quests due to some animation models not developing. (Two examples: "Protectors of the Protectors" I cannot begin as the totems will not appear on my screen, and any of the quests involving three-limbed elementals in Sundered Frontier, such as Underfoot Hardstompers, as those creatures will not draw either; they cannot even be tab-targeted, though their names are clearly visible as floating through the air.) This type of problem also extends to some clothing models not being drawn on PCs as well as NPCs; some of the NPCs in Paineel are walking around pretty much unclothed, various parts of PC clothing is missing from seemingly random toons (no one model seems more likely a candidate for this video error than another).

I thought that maybe I needed a driver update for my video card, so I updated that, but alas, I have the same result. I've played around with all of the graphics settings and restarted the game and my computer multiple times, ran the assets scans in hopes that that would do anything, but to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Which patch method are you using? You can click the INFO button and give me the version information, or if you know its Station Launcher, the streaming LaunchPad, or any other.

I'm currently using the streaming LaunchPad.

Go ahead and delete the Cache folder in your EQII game folder and see if that helps anything reappear. The asset files themselves in the asset_cache folder for the Streaming LaunchPad could also have become corrupt but I do not recommend deleting these files. If it's not a cache issue we do have additional steps for the streaming launchpad but it will involve 2GB redownloads at a time.

Thank you, I'll let you know how it goes asap.

Any luck with the cache clearing?

I cleared the cache as directed -- deleted the folder from the directory -- and tested out the results by zoning into Antonica to perhaps start on the Protectors quest. It's a bit different now in that the creatures are floating above the ground and seemingly in constant motion but don't go anywhere, almost as though everything is lagged at the same time. Add to this the fact that the totems for the quest are still not appearing and I have to think something's still not right.

Upon testing the results of deleting the cache folder in other zones, the effect remains the same -- random mobs are completely invisible except for their name (a couple have no name visible). These can be killed but cannot be looted (no body visible to loot) and has prevented progress in some quests.

Cable connectivity, not wireless.

Ah, sorry about that. Cable internet through Time Warner...? I'm not exactly the world's most tech-savvy computer user, unfortunately.
